Here's an alternate theory: most of America has not heard of Gary Johnson. Why? Because he probably really is a pretty good governor, a pretty good person, knows basically what he's doing, is liked by his people and honestly interested in doing the best job for the people of his state. Most of the Gop cantidates with any real potential have figured out they can be more effective where they are.

Unfortunately running with the current list of GOP clowns may sully his integrity.

their aint a good candidate worth voting for on the republican side. but i would have to deaf dumb and blind to vote for obama. whoever it is ill have to vote just to kick obama out.

Johnson would get my vote in a heartbeat. Paul, too. Everybody else I've seen so far seems even worse than Obama.

So many ignorant comments regarding Gov. Johnson are made here. Please do yourself a favor and look up his ideas and issues. He was a great two-term republican governor in a blue state. Try picking up the Nov issue of GQ --- great article about Gary.

Oregon recently had two great Republican governors, McCall and Hatfield, with broad popularity among liberals. None of the Republican front runners is even close to these two great leaders. I know little about Johnson, probably because the right wing corporate media does not want to give him any airtime. That alone makes him worth looking at.

Gary Johnson??? Is he on the Republican ballot? Did he participate in straw polls and debates? Who in the heck is Gary Johnson?

He's the guy who did pretty well in the debate he was allowed in and most of the straw polls. Believe it or not, he's a Republican who actually cares more about personal liberty over what you're doing in your bedroom, an effective Governor, and quite a moderate on other issues. It's an endangered species.

So, the Republican Party has effectively shut out Huntsman and now this Gary Johnson ... Not so familiar with Johnson but Huntsman is impressive.

Moderation is such a wonderful quality! It is almost a forgotten concept in our Country. You've described a reasonable person.......But how would a moderate/reasonable Person make it in our Corrupt Capitol?

Our government is a mess. Altho we are supposedly ending "the War" in Mid East, didn't we just send our Military to Africa??? (i could be wrong)

But if we're sending Troops to Africa - What The F#.c.k? OUR People are Homeless, Out of Work, and HUNGRY - right here in the USA!

Our 'Leaders' have betrayed us. Either (1) we - US Citizens - are id.i.ots; or (2) our Leaders are id.i.ots. Perhaps both (1) and (2).

That's okay Gary, at least you made it on the ballot and I respect you admitting that you nearly made a big mistake.

i just saw a Gallup Poll which indicated a 'generic' REPUBLICAN PREZ CAND is favored (over B Obama) for 2012 Prez election - i.e., if Gallup is right, we'll have a repub pres in 2012.

So, if one is under-employed, or un-employed, or in financial difficulty ('Poor'/Working Poor'), or not a Corporation/Mility-Indust Complex.......time to find the Hemlock, cuz it's curtains for the 'have-nots'......

It is refreshing to hear any politician, especially someone from the GOP lately, admit they made a mistake.

A sane Republican who doesn't care about what people do in their bedroom. He's the kind of Republican who takes more after Eisenhower than Reagan or W. Bush.

Well that's refreshing - actually it sounds like he's not a Republican....or a Politician for that matter.

It's amazing how stupid/petty/undignified Politicians AND American Voters (seem) to be.

Has the collective American IQ & education-level deteriorated?

We Just Screwed Up! This is the closest thing I've heard to a true fact coming form the mouth of a GOPee candidate since this debacle started. Now we have NINE clowns in this media circus? Talk about Indecision 2012.....

this is the weakest lineup, i've ever seen. it looks like the repubs are getting desperate. they should recruit larry the cable guy, he may have more intelligence, and common sense, than any of them.

I tend to get my news from Huff. But perhaps Obama is going to be defeated by a Republican???? Gods/Higher Power/Evolved Alien Visitors Forbid!

With the exception of Romney (who at least can speak in cohesive sentances, seems informed, and is not a flagrant N#.zi - a la Bachman or Cain), each of the other Rebub Cands seem crazy, or meaner than snakes.

What if HuffPo is wrong????? What if we get a Republican Prez??????

I personally see myself & some others 'circling the drain'

At this point, I don't think the Republicans care! I could be a democrat. LOL
