Crockett Keller, Texas Gun Safety Instructor, Refuses To Teach Liberals And Muslims

For Crockett Keller, the customer is always right -- or at least right-leaning.

That's because the Texas firearm safety instructor refuses to teach liberals.

In a radio advertisement that could cost him his ability to teach concealed handgun safety classes, Keller made it clear that an Oct. 26 course at Keller's Riverside Store in Mason wouldn't be open to people who voted for President Obama and Muslims.

"If you are a socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner-in-chief, please do not take this class," Keller says in the advertisement, which is described as "controversial" on his own website. "You have already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as required under the law."

"Also, if you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you the class. Once again, with no shame; I am Crockett Keller ... thank you and God bless America," the radio spot concludes.

Keller's restrictions could infringe on the rights of Texans seeking to acquire concealed weapons permits, but the 65-year-old told KVUE that he is just trying to protect his rights as a teacher.

"I call it exercising my right to choose who I instruct in how to use a dangerous weapon," Keller said, according to the news station.

"The fact is if you are a devout Muslim then you cannot be a true American," Keller reportedly added. "Why should I arm these people to kill me, that's suicide."

The Texas Hill Country businessman told The Houston Chronicle he has received many calls from neighbors who are supportive of his stance.

Attempts to reach Keller by phone and e-mail were not returned by Huffington Post deadline.

A spokeswoman at the Texas Department of Public Safety, the agency that certifies Texans to teach classes on concealed handguns, confirmed that the agency has launched an investigation into Keller's business practices.

"The department became aware of the statements in question yesterday and has begun an investigation into the matter," she said in a prepared statement. "The department will take appropriate administrative action based on the findings from the investigation."

Just came out on the local news tonight: The Texas Govt contacted Keller and threatened him with revocation of his certification (which would put him out of business). He's now agreed to abide by the law and teach anyone who comes to him, regardless of race, religion, creed or politics. It's nice to see our Govt doing something right.

Wait a minute he is really missing a business opportunity. Are there more liberals or conservatives in prisons? Do high gun crime areas vote republican or democrat? World wide are more people executed by a muslim or christian gun?

Doesn't he realize 90% of the muslim world (including american muslims) endorse sharia law? Changing longitude and latitude doesn't really seem to impact a dogma. Sharia Law has has rules about single women and gays right??

I thought that liberals desire the maximum expansion of the government, regulations and entitlements. Conservatives are oriented toward natural selection.

What condition would the twin towers be in today if the instructors refused to teach muslims? In any major city and count the mug shots with an Obama T Shirts vs. some conservative you hate.

Disclaimer: I am part black. I read both of the books of this president. Knowing his view has been very profitable. I am not a "birther". Where anyone is born has little to do with their worldly views where the grew up does.

The Christians that buy guns understand that Jesus taught us to carry weapons to protect outselves for those people who would threaten us or out family. He also hunted wild animals for food and liked to shoot at targets and old clay pots. No guns at that time, but He always advocated carrying a sword. LOL

I find the posts of advocates for the practices of individuals who feel they have the right to discriminate, sadly like Crockett, to be very common in today's society. What is sad is that most of those individuals state their opinions as if they are spouting law when they are not. Perhaps, at the very least, they need to take a few classes in law or consult with someone in the legal realm before making themselves look like ignorant oafs. But, then again people are entitled to speak and say whatever they like (as long as it does not incite or break any law) even if it does make them look less than intelligent. So...when reading posts in blogs we need to consider the source.

And let us not forget that many of these people are also the first ones to want help (and scream when they don't get it fast enough or efficiently enough) from public agencies serving this country. Yet they are willing to break the laws governing this same country that gives them the freedom of speech and protection under it's laws.

Given that the nature of conservatism prizes things like personal responsibility and self reliance, your last paragraph makes little sense. May I ask you for a link to establish your case? It is not against the law to decline to do business with anyone. If he has a place of business and somebody walks in, he's not allowed to throw them out, but he's not required to schedule training for them. Nothing illegal about it. Before you get into the whole bigot matter, please show where either liberal or muslim is a protected class. (which would still be legal to refuse to offer training to them, by the simple expedient of not having any time available.)

Ask yourself how the instructors must feel that trained the Muslims that piloted the planes on 9/11 ????
Our country as well as the world is at war with the Muslims weather they want to accept it or not. I agree, why should we arm them !
