Jasmen Gonzalez, Missing Oklahoma 10-Year-Old, Abducted, Stabbed To Death In Carrollton, Texas: Police

Posted: Updated:

A 10-year-old Oklahoma City girl who vanished Saturday night was found stabbed to death, according to the Dallas County medical examiner.

A search team discovered the body of Jasmen Gonzalez several blocks from the apartment complex in Carrollton, Texas, where she was staying with family before her disappearance.

Authorities have identified a family friend, 23-year-old Jose Sifuentes, as a "person of interest" in Gonzalez's death, WFAA reports.

Sifuentes, who is not a citizen of the United States, is in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.

"We're still talking to other people," said Carrollton Police Department Lt. Doug Mitchell, according to WFAA.

"We are re-interviewing folks. So, there's a lot more work to be done."

Gonzalez's body was found in bushes beside a nearby home on Sunday. The Dallas County medical examiner's office determined the child had been stabbed in the chest, The Dallas Morning News reports.

Authorities have searched Sifuentes' apartment and car, the paper notes. Investigators are reportedly seeking to determine whether the victim was sexually assaulted.

Early reports indicated that Gonzalez may have been sleepwalking when she left the home without her shoes, socks or glasses, but police now believe she was abducted.

"We think she was abducted, but I can't give you any more than that at this point," Mitchell told The Oklahoman. “We don't think it's a random act."

Calls to the Carrollton Police Department were not returned by Huffington Post deadline.WATCH KVUE VIDEO:
