Occupy Wall Street Battles New York Snow (VIDEO)

Occupy Wall Street protestors got their first taste of winter on Saturday as the city experienced record snow and chilling temperatures atypical of a normal October weekend.

The video below provides a personal glimpse of demonstrators braving the cold weather and passing out ponchos, coats, and other supplies. One protestor explained the importance of such solidarity and that "belief in the movement, as cheesy as it sounds, is the most important part."

Saturday's freak snowstorm is just a preview of the coming obstacles protestors will inevitably have to overcome as temperatures continue to drop for the coming winter season.

These guys are troopers! Stay and show them you're not going to fade away. At the very least you're impacting the national conversation in a lot of subtle ways and hopefully it will lead directly or indirectly to some positive legislation. I've been down there several times and it's a group of generally very good people, as you might expect from those willing to sacrifice so much time and comfort to make a political point. The conservative response has been too funny. Some are calling the protesters "dirty hippies" while others on the right are trying to claim that they're conservatives who "don't know it yet!" Make up your mind guys!

I think Occupy Wall Street protesters, kids, adults, veterans--all should get their generators back. Winter will be harsh enough. Heat is not a creature comfort.

God loves everybody not 99% but 100%. God will lead the protestors . No matter, if it is raining, snowing or cold, Protestors will find a way. Police department should be ashamed about how they treat them. republicans are laying off teachers, fireman and policeman. Policeman be nice to these protestors because one day you might be in the same situation. Stay strong. We are with you 100%

Loved this video! This weather is the first of many testy days of bad weather to come. I think they can do it. I wasn't so sure a few weeks ago, but I think they can AND will brave out the winter. And in the spring....the "American Spring" will be backed with these courageous, creative people who stuck it out to show their convictions and to make a difference. ; )

The White House, Acorn, and Michael Moore along with many others are deliberately investing their time and money into making sure this group does not go away. It’s their only hope for Obama to get re-elected as they continuously draw more and more people into the fold. We just don’t have enough people to continue this fight as even the police are being told to back off! I guess our only hope at this stage of the game is to hope that old man winter proves too much for their delicate frames. Of course, if they’re out on the streets smoking pot, and getting stoned, as some have suggested, even winter won’t make a difference.
