Tim Tebow Will Start Against Raiders Despite Crushing Loss To Lions

Will The Broncos Give Tebow Another Chance?

Tim Tebow will get at least one more week of starting for the Denver Broncos against the Oakland Raiders this Sunday, Coach John Fox said in a press conference, according to The Denver Post. Fox sounded patient and understanding, saying:

He's a young quarterback, we're getting to know him better and he's getting to know the offense, with each one of those snaps. I think at the end of the day, we have to see if he can improve and get better in the passing game.

Fox even placed some of the blame for the Broncos crushing loss to the Lions on his and the rest of the coaching staff's shoulders, 7News reports:

At the end of the day, it all starts with our coaching staff, myself to lead the list. We've got to do a better job of coaching.

This announcement comes after Yahoo! Sports reported that according to a "source familiar with the Broncos' thinking" the expectation is that Tebow will remain as starter only for a couple more games if he doesn't show significant improvement. And, according to the Yahoo! Sports source, in the case of a Tebow benching - third-string Brady Quinn would be next up, not the former starter Kyle Orton.

However, SBNation reports that Tebow only has five career starts, Quinn has 12, and it's just not a enough information to go on, yet. The Broncos will likely want to see what Tebow offers as a starter in more games before making a decision to bench him.

Tebow faced a humiliating 45-10 defeat against the Lions on Sunday He was sacked seven times (up from six against the Dolphins the week prior), had the ball stripped from his hand for a touchdown and threw a heartbreaking interception that was returned 100 yards for another touchdown.

Some Lions even began Tebowing -- the Tim Tebow taking a knee impersonation -- in celebration during the game -- Tony Scheffler did a brief Tebow after a touchdown and Stephen Tulloch celebrated a Tebow sack by Tebowing, as well.

Fox31 reports that despite all of that, Coach Fox remained optimistic about his starting QB. Speaking in a press conference about Tebow's performance, Fox said:

Statistics-wise, albeit with a couple of turnovers, I think there was improvement.
