Survey Shows That Only 7 Percent Of Women Love Their Hair (POLL, PHOTOS)

According to a survey conducted by Dove, only 7 percent of women in the United States love their hair.

Eek! Talk about a bad hair day.

The beauty company teamed up with actress Rashida Jones for their Make Friends With Your Hair campaign and contest to allow women across the country to vent about their hair stuggles and hopefully help them love their hair.

The project also surveyed 1,000 U.S. women to find out how much they loved their hair. Sadly, not many.

Although the overall finding was that only 7 percent of women love their hair, the survey also found that African American women (14%) were the most likely to vote that way.

That's slightly encouraging, but 14 percent is still pretty pathetic. Maybe hair sororities aren't such a bad idea? A sisterhood of hair lovers to the rescue!

Either way, it looks like our tresses are in need of some major TLC.

Here are a few more interesting findings from the survey:

  • Hair Care is a higher priority in a woman's morning routine than eating breakfast (45% versus 41%), applying makeup (39%) and extra sleep (35%).
  • When asked how many hair products they use on an average day to manage/tame their unpredictable hair, 58% of women said they use three or more.
  • 1 in 5 women have passed on a social event as a result of unpredictable hair.

Quick Poll

Do You Love Your Hair?

Totally!

Sometimes.

Nope.

In an attempt to inspire some much needed affection towards our hair, we've rounded up a slideshow of fabulous hair moments from a few of our favorite stars. Check it out!

maybe there should be more natural black hair (one more completely black, not half black) women on the slideshow and less perms and weave. since perms and weave aren't what really grows out of black women's heads naturally...

So only 7% of women of color like their hair? Then I guess I can only date 7% of these women. I hate weave.....and self hate. I've NEVER met a black man that likes weave. NEVER. But that doesn't stop tons of women from wearing it. These girls just don't care what their men think and they wonder why they are alone. At this point, I associate weave with laziness, ignorance, and self hate. She could be cute and I'll walk around her to find a female who knows how to do something with her natural hair. Can our standards be any lower? I'd like a woman who can do something with her hair and teach our future daughters and nieces how to do their hair. And I guess that's just 7% of the type of women I like.....

Just do whatever you want with your hair and stop worrying about it. Agonizing over hair is much ado about nothing. As far as I'm concerned nobody needs to apologize for or prove anything to me.

I have a problem when commercials advertising hair and beauty products use models that have results unrelated to the product being advertised. For instance in Beyonce's L'Oreal commercial, she wears weaves! You can clearly see it! How can you endorse a product you don't even use? You just buy your weave in a certain color...

(BTW: I think 7% of women loving their hair is a bit low)

She's right. Of the 24 pics, MOST of them are wearing a weave. The ladies who aren't wear their hair in the chemically unaltered state (natural hair or locks).
