Jimmy Kimmel's 'I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy' Challenge Yields Hilarious Results (VIDEO)

Comedian and late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel issued a bold challenge to parents: Tell your children you ate all of their Halloween candy. And record the response.

The result: A hilarious compilation of post-sugar high kids instantly mourning the loss of their Oct. 31 efforts.

Kimmel admits he didn't expect so many kids to cry, and honestly, we didn't either. Yes, the trick's a little mean, but, you have to admit, it's pretty funny.

How do you think your child would respond to this? Tell us in the comments section below.

The two boys at the end were the funniest! Aw, those poor kids, I feel guilty for laughing. No I don't.

Never feer... Those little ones that you hurt in the name of comedy will come back to you later in life... Mom, Dad I spent all your money. You have nothing left to retire on.

Ugh, crying over lost candy? Please. Most of them look like they get plenty of candy every day of the year...I highly doubt Halloween is the only day they get junk. I loved the last 2 boys, so cute with their Mom AND I love how the older brother told his brother one "so close!" when he said 2 + 2 was 5. Very, very sweet.

I thought it was a pretty cruel prank. I've been involved in some discussion about it elsewhere, and there are those who think people who object can't take a joke. The point is breaking your kids' trust for your amusement at their reaction and hurt feelings. Not cool.

Good grief.

Absolutely nasty. First, some of these kids are going out for the candy haul much too young. Second, the hype and promotion of Halloween is very intense (which is why its the 2nd largest revenue producing holiday) and if you've helped psyche up your kids for the event, including candy gathering, then exploiting the understandable reaction from these kids for "humor" is just sick. This is emotional bullying. I agree w/ Raejeanowl - not cool. I'm very impressed w/ the two brothers at the end of the video. While the younger one may forgive the parents, I have a feeling the very savvy older child will be suspicious of his parents for a long time to come.

You can't go trick-or-treating. Ever. For a week

Oh my god get a life woman. These kids are far from being bullied. If you like, you can Youtube the original videos and you will see that when the kids were told it was a trick, they ALL burst out laughing and thought it was the funniest thing ever-yes includning the older child you think will be "suspicious" of his parents.

Kimmel is suggesting psychological distrust abuse. The results of distrust abuse at the age of these children, or anytime between birth and 14 by parents,
results in a not-in-control of my life memory. And, at the time these children's
Book of Life kicks in at 16, the subliminal distrust will cause a double bind
resulting in drug and alchole abuse - the means to deaden the feeling of subliminal double bind.

Kimmel should be fired for making such a suggestion.

Serious or sarcasm?

um. you need to relax. life must be impossible for you. fired? seriously? this overreacting is a hell of a lot more harmful. it's candy. and kids have way to much of it. i wish you the best.

If I was a kid I'd probably cry too. I wouldn't hit the wall or call my parents names like some of those kids, because I was smarter then that and wouldn't want those consequences. But come on, putting in 3 hours and a few miles of walking, I'd be upset too.

I'd be one of the kids with the reaction of crumbling to the floor in despair, to be honest.
05:46 PM on 11/05/2011
Good grief. Kids already have little enough control over their lives. Taking away the only thing they feel they can call their own isn't good. Having mom and dad act crazy and unpredictable isn't good. And doing it to LITTLE TINY KIDS like some of the first ones is especially not cool!

If your child did this to his little sibling, you would punish him for it.

Those last two in the pajamas are incredible. Clearly a case of thoughtful parenting. A couple clearly don't need the extra calories, and most could use some better coping skills.
05:18 PM on 11/05/2011
And they are going to learn those coping skills from those abusive parents?
11:11 PM on 11/06/2011
abusive? you are nuts. get a sense of humor.

They don't call it "TRICK" or treat for no reason.

If you watch this video like I do, you'll notice that the kids who don't throw a tantrum have also been raised by the more reasonable parents, as is obvious from each of the resulting interactions these parents have with their kids. They have probably been emotionally abused the least in the course of their little lives, or they have already been taught skills of listening, thinking and being heard. They have more of what it takes to absorb such a blow. Our culture still has to learn a LOT about human beings, and this type of stuff ultimately explains all human violence we see on our planet.

What surprised ME was not that most of the kids cried, but that Kimmel didn't expect that, and then, once seeing the reactions, decided to ignore the painfulness and go on broadcasting it anyway.

My son had a similar reaction when I told him there was no Santa Claus.

This is sadism masquerading as humor. I think we should take up a collection for the therapy that Kimmel needs and give the idiots who willingly participated a good whack upside the head. All in good fun of course.

Au contraire mon frere. I am more fun than a barrel of naked monkeys. I just do not get my kicks from emotional sadism directed at small children.
