Occupy LA Marches In Support Of Occupy Oakland (PHOTOS)

Hundreds of Occupy LA protesters marched on Downtown Los Angeles Wednesday evening in solidarity with protesters in Oakland.

The peaceful demonstration, which numbered approximately 300 people, rallied at the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters with signs like "I Am Scott Olsen" (the Iraq war veteran who was critically injured by police actions in October) and banners calling for an end to police brutality.

The signs, of course, were directed at police departments elsewhere, as the Occupy LA movement and the LAPD have maintained a peaceful and cooperative relationship throughout the occupation. Thursday morning, the OccupyLA movement tweeted a message of gratitude to the police: "We had a great turnout last night. Very inspiring. LAPD kept it very low profile & we thank them for that."

On Thursday morning, reports the Los Angeles Times, "Occupy" movements across the country were planning coordinated demonstrations to urge President Obama to adopt a sales tax on financial transactions like stocks, bonds and derivatives.

The Huffington Post reports that the potential revenues from such a sales tax could be $176 billion a year, according to organizers.
