Shyane DeJesus Fights Groper And Takes Photo For Police

College Student Beats Subway Groper, Takes Photo For Police

A 22-year old college student from Queens defended herself after a man groped her on the subway in Union Square on October 23.

Shyane DeJesus, a senior at City College, was on her way to work and waiting for the 6 train when she noticed a man lurking next to her. The New York Post reports that the man started to rub against her thigh and then DeJesus says he:

...grabbed my right shoulder and pushed my head down and lifted my skirt up and groped me...He went on the train and sat down as if nothing happened. I was hysterical. I yelled that he just groped me.

DeJesus says that no one on the train came to her aid. That's when she decided to take matters into her own hand, as she started to beat the attacker, kicking and punching him in the head and screaming "don't you ever!"

DeJesus was also able to take a photo of the man using her Blackberry to aid police in finding him.

Last year, a similar incident occurred on a subway train when a man flashed his penis at a woman. The woman was caught on tape defending herself yelling, "That's it! Oh you're getting fucking arrested. I'm not leaving your side. My plans are done for tonight."

DeJesus's groping follows a recent report from the NYPD stating subway crime has seen a 16.6 percent increase in the last year, coinciding with recent similar sexual assaults tearing through Brooklyn.
