Chicago News Cooperative:

More than 10,000 homeless students are enrolled in Chicago's classrooms this fall, a 16 percent increase over last year and a record high, according to Chicago Public Schools data for September.

The school district's numbers reflect a trend seen by service providers around the city: Chicago's homeless population is becoming younger. More families are living on the street, and the number of homeless youths on their own has grown exponentially.

Why 17 hundred kids without a parent or guardian? Are they runaways or throw aways? And is a child homeless if tey are staying wth Grandma or Aunt Rita? The article said 90% are with other relatives.

It is never clearer how badly the american people are represented when we see such statistics. It's not rocket science how quickly families disintegrate with the abscence of sustinence. When is that ever gonna change? When will humanity and compassion come to this world? Shame on all those who have contributed to our country's economic decline. Shame on all those corporatists who moved American jobs overseas to make more money. And shame on all lobbyists and congressional members who supported corporatists. How do ya feel about NAFTA now Mr. Clinton?

What's worrisome to me VB (well, not really ) is the Smart People are being proven correct.Still,94 is open.Anyone of a certain intelligence can be able to leave to leave the state.
Think of it as Evolution in Action .

You post the same thing over and over again. The comment by Vegas was primarily about outsourced jobs due to bad trade agreements. The whole country is affected by this, not just someone at a particular end of I94.
