Lindsey Vonn Attends Homecoming Dance With High School Student Parker McDonald

No one wants to go back to high school, so kudos to U.S. skier and World Cup champion, Lindsey Vonn, for agreeing to attend Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy's homecoming dance on Friday night.

The Vail Daily reports that Parker McDonald, 16, wrestled up the courage to invite the Olympic gold medal winner, who was speaking at the school one day before the dance.

"I thought, 'I need a date and there's Lindsey Vonn. I'll ask her!'" Parker told the paper. "She walked by my lunch table and I whipped out the big question."

Proving that it never hurts to ask, the 27-year-old accepted the invitation and recounted the story on her Facebook page:

Yesterday I visited the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy and while I was eating lunch with all the students a 15 year old boy named Parker asked me if I would be his date for their homecoming dance which is tonight. When Parker asked me he was cute, nervous and very polite so of course I said YES! :) All through school growing up I never got the chance to go to a school dance so I'm excited for tonight! :) xo LV

There you have it -- if you want a better chance at your favorite athlete or celebrity accepting your invite to the big dance, ask one who was too busy training to have a normal childhood.

Vonn was in Eagle, Colorado to train with the U.S. Ski Team at the school's new Golden Peak training center. According to the The Vail Daily , the school is the nation's first public winter sports academy for students in sixth through twelfth grade.
