Julio Jones Touchdown: Falcons Rookie Makes Amazing Diving Catch Against Colts (VIDEO)

Star Rookie Makes Phenomenal Diving Catch For 1st Career TD

Atlanta rookie Julio Jones finally had his breakout game in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts. The former Alabama star dominated with his first two career touchdown catches, racking up 131 receiving yards on just three receptions in Atlanta's 31-7 win.

The first came late in the first quarter with the Falcons at midfield. Quarterback Matt Ryan took the shotgun snap, dropped back a couple steps and launched a pass to the end zone. Even though there were three Colts defenders around Jones, the Falcons star was still able to create some space and make a diving attempt. Somehow, Jones caught the ball and slid past the goal line, but the referee immediately ruled it incomplete claiming that the ball hit the ground.

Jones, however, got up with the ball signaled for coach Mike Smith to throw the challenge flag. That's exactly what Smith did and after watching the replay, the officials ruled that Jones kept his arms under the ball, preventing it from touching the ground. Therefor the play was ruled a 50-yard touchdown and Jones had his first career score. To top that off, his second touchdown went for 80 yards!
