Liz Cheney: Herman Cain Can Survive Sexual Harassment Charges

Liz Cheney, Republican strategist and daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, came to Herman Cain's defense Sunday morning when she said that his sexual harassment scandal "is not the issue that's going to decide the election."

During an appearance on the CBS show "Face The Nation," Cheney said she found the media's focus on the sexual harassment allegations against Cain "pretty frustrating" and said there are more important reasons why "the American people are out there afraid."

"This is not the issue that's going to decide the election," Cheney said. "Who can create jobs and grow the economy is what will decide both the Republican primary and also, ultimately, the general election."

While she said she thinks Cain has "done a good part here toward getting the facts out," Cheney said much of the media's "feeding frenzy" has not been based on facts.

"I think what we've heard now are a lot of accusations. Not a lot of facts," Cheney said. "Having been through campaigns at a very high level, I can tell you that facts are often one of the first casualties."

Cain has stated that he will answer no further questions on the allegations made by three women that they were sexually harassed by the candidate during his tenure as the head of the National Restaurant Association. "We are getting back on message. End of story. Back on message," he recently told reporters. "Everything has been answered."
