Albert Haynesworth Cut: Patriots Reportedly Release Defensive Tackle

REPORT: Albert Haynesworth Released

Not long after it began, the Albert Haynesworth experiment appears to have ended in New England.

According to Ian Rappaport, the New England Patriots beat reporter for the Boston Herald, the club has released the defensive tackle.

ESPN Reporter Adam Schefter has also tweeted about Haynesworth's release.

Haynesworth barely made it more than half a season with the Patriots after being traded to the club from the Redskins over the summer.

Prior to the season, many expected Haynesworth to combine with Vince Wilfork to make one of the most formidable interior defensive line duos in the NFL. But eight games later, Haynesworth only accumulated three tackles on a Patriots team that ranks second to last in the league in total defense.

Rappaport also tweeted that the release has come two days after Haynesworth had a sideline confrontation with Patriots defensive line coach Pepper Johnson.
