Jon Stewart Rips Fox News For Defending Herman Cain (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/08/11 10:37 AM ET Updated: 11/08/11 02:05 PM ET

If there's one thing Jon Stewart knows best, it's how to point out Fox News' follies. He played another round of "find the hypocritical reporting" with the conservative network on Monday night's "Daily Show," this time focusing on their defense of GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain.

As Stewart points out, the "big get" of the Politico story that first highlighted Cain's past sexual harassment allegations is that they appear to be true. With more women coming forward and Cain himself admitting he knew about a settlement (after a brief bit of amnesia), there is a wealth of evidence mounting against him.

So why is he blaming the media for the story? Stewart found that odd, especially since the first place 24-hour cable news network, Fox News, has been trying to help him. The problem is, Stewart found a few holes in their defense.

Watch the segment above to see Stewart have a field day after finding clips of Megyn Kelly both deriding the Politico article because of anonymous sources and then using anonymous sources to fuel speculation about union corruption. And it just gets better from there -- make sure you watch until the end to see the clip Stewart refers to as "The Holy Grail."

Where is the story on last nights Colbert reprot?

It was absolutely mind boggling BRILLIANT.

Colbert has taken hold of  the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision and is not letting go. He is rippng it like a pit bull on a poodle.

Not only has he explained the decision in terms anyone can understand, but he has been showing up the criminal folly of what it has  Read More...

Right on Jon, right on! The Cain situation is sick and sickening. As the saying goes, "chi si scusa s'accusa." Translated " he who excuses himself accuses himself."

The victims of the sexual harrassment situation are justified to remain anonymous. Could you imagine what would happen if they did reveal their names publicly?

It's bad enough for men to criticize, make fun of, minimize, deny the very existence of sexual harrassment or to plead "innocent." But, it's even worse when women criticize other women. They need to either "ferme le bouche" or speak out in support of their sisters.

Hmm. I wonder how they would feel if the shoe was on the other foot?

And Fox News are aware of their hypocrisy. They're also aware that it works.

If the only way to hold them accountable is by turning away from their channel, then we won't get anywhere.

Doesn't mean I don't love hearing about Fox News hypocrisy - the exposure continues to be very satisfying. TGFJS.

I wonder if Cain would ever harass the women of Faux News. They seem to be his type, and it's about time for their hypocrisy to come back and bite them.

Justice should be served!

Megyn Kelly is smokin. We all know that Fox is not a news station, its just entertainment, like TMZ or one of those . She's making bank, reading what they tell her,and she is a lawyer so she's not stupid.Making the money while she has the looks.Jon Stewart is the smartest and most truthful reporter on the air.

How did these Fox people get jobs? My aunt can't find work, and she's three times as smart as those slags sitting on that sofa. Pathetic.

The most frightening thing about Fox News is that people depend upon it as their only source of so-called "news". Fair and balanced? How can they even utter those words with a straight face? And some of those news announcers? That worthless trio on Fox and Friends?

Yes...terms like "fair and balanced" or "anonymous sources" sound like important news-ish lingo, but at Fox the actual meanings can get a little foggy. They sound great though, and sponsors probably encourage them to use these words here and there to enhance credibility.....hey "enhanced credibility"!....how does that sound?
11:39 PM on 11/09/2011
Woah, woah, hey now. "Fox and Friends" falls outside Fox News's stated "news hours" of 9AM-4PM and 6PM-8PM, so don't be calling them "news announcers."

Of course, by "stated" I mean "in an interview somewhere that none of their viewers are actually aware of," and in practice all that really means is that their "straight news" people tell the same lies but they have to say "some people say" before them. There was actually a segment once where Jon Stewart broke down the interactions between the "news" and "opinion" sides of Fox very accurately - google "For Fox Sake" if you want to see it.
