Imagine a party with previous guests including Brangelina, Jeff Koons, Vera Wang, James Franco, Ed Ruscha, Miuccia Prada, Devendra Banhart and John Baldessari. Now imagine Lady Gaga playing a Damien Hirst-designed piano in a Frank Gehry-designed hat. Now imagine Kanye West performing on in Takashi Murakami-designed set. This is not a dream. This is the annual MOCA Gala, known in the art world as the most epic party of the year.

This year's event, taking place on November 12, will feature a one-night-only high concept collaboration between Marina Abramovic and Debbie Harry. According to MOCA, "Marina plans to re-enact some her most famous performance art pieces as well as serve as a master of ceremonies, directing gala guests in a series of participatory activities as they experience the installations, décor and dinner." Further details of event have been kept surprisingly hush-hush; both MOCA and Abramovic herself are keeping the night's performance a secret. But we're pretty confident that whatever Marina has in store will be absolutely breathtaking. Guests so far include Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba, and Miranda July.

If you're lucky enough to attend this year's gala, you are in for a supreme treat. And as for the rest of us, keep reading for all the juiciest details and pics.

Take the quiz and figure out whether it was better to be a performer at the MOCA Gala 2011 or the bartender: http://artsmeme.com/2011/11/27/quiz-which-was-the-best-gig-moca-gala-dancer-or-bartender/

Many in the art world are extremely disappointed because it has come out that the performers at this event are being paid only $150. Abramovic and MOCA are taking advantage of these artists by paying sub-standard wages. We should all stand against such exploitation.
