Newark-Bound Continental Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Israel

A Continental flight headed for Newark Liberty International Airport made an emergency landing in Israel Wednesday, reports The Jerusalem Post.

After pilots reported smoke coming from the Boeing 777's baggage compartment, the plane turned around and landed at Ben-Gurion International Airport, outside Tel Aviv, according to Fox News.

Police and firefighting crews, plus 45 ambulances and 17 mobile units met the plane on the runway. None of the 280 passengers on board were reported harmed.
