iOS 5.0.1 Available For Download: Apple Releases Fix For iPhone, iPad Battery Problems

Apple Releases Big Fix For iPhone Battery Problems

Apple has released iOS 5.0.1, the software update meant to fix several issues with the new mobile operating system, including a battery drain problem affecting some iPhone and iPad users. Apple has been dealing with a flood of complaints about the poor battery life on its devices following the release of iOS 5, and downloading this update should improve the iPhone battery situation.

Chief among the listed updates that come with the newest Apple operating system is one that "fixes bugs affecting battery life." The poor battery life on the iPhone 4S (and other Apple devices running iOS 5) caused a minor tempest on tech sites and on the Apple forums; on November 2, Apple confirmed that the battery drain was being caused by a problem with iOS 5 and not with the hardware itself and that it was working on a fix.

Other updates coming with iOS 5.0.1 include multi-tasking gestures for the first-generation iPad, a fix for a bug that was affecting documents in iCloud and better Siri voice recognition for Australians.

You can download the new iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch by connecting your device to your computer and opening up iTunes. And if you want to save even more battery life on your iPhone, check out our slideshow of tips and tricks below:
