Michele Bachmann Event Rocked By Occupy Wall Street Protesters (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/10/11 02:18 PM ET Updated: 11/10/11 03:23 PM ET

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann was interrupted by Occupy Wall Street protesters while speaking on foreign policy during a stop in South Carolina on Thursday.

Mount Pleasant Patch reports that Bachmann was in the middle of her remarks when the incident occurred. The conservative congresswoman was escorted off stage amid the disturbance, which was caused by demonstrators in the audience.

Mount Pleasant Patch relays part of a prepared statement read by the protesters:

"This will only take a minute. We have a message for Mrs. Bachmann. You capitalize on dividing Americans. Claiming people that disagree with you are unpatriotic socialists. And you promote discrimination. This does not help the American People."

After the interruption, Bachmann returned to the stage. She quipped, "Don't you love the First Amendment?"

Typical OWS libs - they lie with their pathetic attempts at making people believe that they're all for free speech - yet they do their best to squelch it when it doesn't agree with their twisted mindset.

Nothing new.

Well Michele...don't YOU just love the First Amendment too? After all, it gives you the right to spread your asinine bulshyt all over the nation too, doesn't it? I mean, it's not like you have actually come up with any solutions in the 6 years you've been on Congress so why would anyone in their right mind think you have any solutions now?

It is impolite and anti-democratic to interrupt a speech. That being said, Michelle Bachmann is not a darling of the Tea Party. She is a conservative, not a libertarian, as most TP'ers are. Conservatives want the government to tell people how to behave; linertarians wan the government to stay out of their lives. That's a big difference.

None. She has however proposed legislation to cut veteran's benefits, including those of disabled veterans.

Tommygun264...True and honest passionate debate is always to be welomed, but first and formost, one must be given the opportunity to be heard...This was never allowed to take place.
This 'assault' on Bachmann was clearly a pre planned and orchestrated event and one designed to never have her be granted any 'right' of expression of which you so much fight for. Hypocracy.
You lose your argument and your credibility when all you can offer is attack, along with puppet like group loud chanting. This tommygun264 is not representative of a true democracy or republic.
You are treading very close towards Anarchy and Communism, and step by step you are trampling on the very rights of others to whom you may disagree.

A simple question/s......#1 What exactly do you want?, and as such, #2 How do you want to achieve?
Here are your choices:
#1
If you want to make changes through the current system in place, then you have avenues in place to make changes.
#2
If you do not like any of the political parties that best serves your views and your needs,, then by all means create another Party.
#3
Simply overthrow the system

Which do you chose tommygun264

Bachmann is the ultimate hippocrite . She takes federal funds all the time.
Bachmann does not realize that people below the poverty level pay indirect
federal taxes plus state and local taxes . She is a tax lawyer. She is loyal
to her class , the wealthy. We have diabled vietnam vets homeless getting
very little aid or health care if any.She never served in the military and put her spoiled butt
on the line. The tax rate for the wealthy is the lowest in decades and 65% of americans agree with the students - Tax The Rich more and raise taxes over 300,000 0f income. go back to clinton tax rates.

I would like to see more direct democracy. More direct voting on major issues
every two years.Put these three on the ballot in the next election.
ex.
1-Should the united case be repealed?
2- Should a balanced budget amendment be instituted?
3- should students get more help with outstanding loans?
10:43 AM on 11/12/2011
Ms. Bachman isn't the president. She isn't even running for president. She is trying to earn the right to run for president. She has no current power. Shouldn't the protestors be outside the White House? Wait, they don't really want to make a change, they simply want to disrupt. Never mind.
11:05 AM on 11/12/2011
Shouldn't she preface any remarks she makes on foreign or domestic policy by saying, "I don't know anything about this subject but I'll talk anyway,"?
10:07 AM on 11/12/2011
Just shouting USA does not make you a patriot.

Opening the eyes of Americans showing exactly who the political candidates are and who is behind them is being a patriot.

Yup these sunshine patriots like to put their sunglasses on so they can't see facts that are right in front of them. I remember them yelling USA,USA we're #1 about healthcare but the numbers say we are #37. Being critical of your country is a civic responsibility in order to help your country become better and reach it's full potential

She got to speak. There was just a slight delay. I'm pretty sure there's no 1st Amendment right to speak immediately.
10:09 AM on 11/12/2011
She could have spoke afterwards. SHE chose to leave because she was humiliated by what was being said. Have you ever seen Pres. Obama leave? He let's them speak and gives a reply. He allows for dialog.

Well so much for the Right of free speech, Diversity of opinions,...Unless of course it is selective.
Like trained seals, and children, the protesters echo back the questions.

On the contrary, the right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression in the public forum (and what is more of a public forum than a military vessel built from the taxes of and for the benefit of "we the people) and the "mic check" method is the great equalizer - the floor no longer belongs to whomever controls the loudspeaker. The mic check also lays to rest the now threadbare old meme that "these people are a bunch of disorganized rabble who don't know what they are talking about, in that it is indicative of a group of people who have organized and agreed upon a common message. If Michele (or any of the naysayers here) ever bothered to approach the 99% movement with an open mind and attended their daily open forums, she would have known that if she had stayed and LISTENED to their message, she would have had her turn to talk and express her views. She could have stayed and engaged the demonstrators. But as she always does when faced with someone with an opposing opinion that she cannot dictate to, she ran away, playing the victim card yet again. THIS is what true democracy looks like, real democracy is a process, and exchange of views not a prepackaged presentation shoved down the throats of a passive audience with no room for dissent. As a veteran and a disabled American I am proud that the American people who I served to defend are finally waking from the sleepwalk of passive consumerism and taking an active role in reasserting themselves into the democratic process.

Time and place....time and place. It's the one thing seemingly lost on a lot of the Left. Like gay activists who dress up in outlandish drag and attend a Catholic Mass, it's just not the right forum- and you'll lose support. Occupy absolutely has the right to do whatever they want with regards to free speech, and although I'd likely disagree with 95%, I would insist that they be allowed to speak their minds.

They can scream down all the Republican candidates...but it has the affect, the appearance of intolerance and it won't help their (or your), movement at all.

The one place where the Tea Party and OWS likely agree is that the system is broken...but that's likely about it. The Tea Party looks and sees a corrupt government (with both parties corrupt), the OWS crowd (although its hard to put a finger on whether there is a commonality), sees a corrupt free market. Where the two likely would agree is on rampant crony capitalism....so a OWS interruption of Obama and/or Biden speech would do wonders for the movement because us TeaPartiers would see that the movement is based upon issues which transcend politics versus anti-Republican only. Right now there doesn't appear to be any anger at the Left. I can tell you, the Tea Party has massive anger at the Inside-the-Beltway GOP.
