WASHINGTON -- It's time again for women of varying hair colors to play Powder Puff football and raise money for a worthy cause.

This Saturday marks the 7th annual Blondes vs. Brunettes fundraiser. (For those at work, a warning: the fundraiser website plays music. Loud music.) Money raised will benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

Team Blonde won last year's game -- its first victory over the Brunettes since the event began in 2005. Last year's event raised more than $100,000. The goal this year is to raise $125,000 -- the event's website shows that $111,495 has been donated so far.

This seems a fun way to raise good money for a good cause, and while enjoying Saturday's sunny afternoon you can query the meaning of the uniforms: Why do the blondes wear pink shirts, while the brunettes wear blue?

Tickets are $25 each, and can be bought online. Kickoff is at 1 pm, at the George Washington University Mount Vernon Athletic Complex (2100 Foxhall Road NW).
