'Act Of Valor': Navy SEAL Film Gets Second Trailer (VIDEO)

Act Of Valor

First Posted: 11/12/2011 2:42 pm Updated: 01/12/2012 5:12 am

Even as we thank our troops for their selfless bravery overseas, it's hard to imagine what those acts of bravery actually entail. So, as we continue the Veterans Day celebration into the weekend, there's no better time to take a real glimpse into the battles we usually only read about.

There are plenty of war films, but "Act of Valor" stands above the rest: it stars actual Navy SEALs. It began as a Navy recruitment video, but eventually grew into a full-on feature, directed by Mike "Mouse" McCoy and Scott Waugh. The plot concerns the rescue of a CIA agent and a web of terrorist plots that must be taken down, and the action is as intense as the screen will allow.

This second trailer was revealed during the 2011 Quicken Loans Carrier Classic, a college basketball game between North Carolina and Michigan State that took place aboard the USS Carl Vinson on Friday evening. The film hits theaters in February.

New Book about Navy SEALs
“When the Bullet Hits the Funny Bone - The Essence of a Navy SEAL,” is a collection of true events about the author's times (Billy Allmon) in the US Navy SEAL Teams and how SEALs use their humor to cope with all sorts of tragic events that they experience in their professional careers.

Most people may feel that the US Navy SEALs are nothing more than professional killers, and most people would have no idea that in the performance of a Navy SEALs professional career, a US Navy SEAL will face death so often that he will come to know death by his first name and if it were possible, a Navy SEAL would even invite death for a beer.

"When The Bullet Hits The Funny Bone," takes the reader on an emotional roller-coaster ride of tragedy and laughter, giving the reader a complete inner circle view into the professional and personal lives of America's most elite warriors.

“When the Bullet Hit Your Funny Bone - The Essence of a Navy SEAL, offers the reader a personal glimpse into many of the minds of America's most elite warriors, and explains how SEALs bond with each other to become brothers-in-arms. It explains why SEALs use extreme humor on themselves and others to cope with a job that places these professional warriors face to face with death on almost a daily bases.

That's why its paramount to all Americans to ensure our elected officials do the right thing. To be a good American you must pay attention to what politicians are doing. Or these men and women die needlessly.

If you spend ten minutes watching this video take another 10 min and think about how much time you've spent educating yourself on what our politicians are doing in foreign policy. We owe it to them and their families at the very least.

Well unfortunately a vast majority of our under educated young men and women are overly influenced by the testosterone injected portrayal here. It should be tempered with some facts. Our special forces men and women have masters degrees AND are the fittest people on the planet. They can endure long periods of hellish environmental extremes, think under pressure with the mental alertness of a math professor, maintain calm under fire, follow orders so extremely precise and disciplined that it borders on pyschopathic. Safety, security, preparedness, training, masters level knowledge of a broad array of engineering, electronics, mechanics, chemistry and medicine is the foundation of what builds these people into what they are capable of achieving as the best team ever created and all done under the highest grade of pressure imaginable.

Just firing weapons and screaming make up about 1% of what it takes to be one of these professionals.

Young people need to know that more than they need to see the blasting and screaming. Maybe then they'll actually do their homework, mow the lawn, help their mother around the house, be more for someone else than they are for themselves.

We have lost 57 Seals since 9/11. Often times these heros know they are going into a no-win scenario and face it with optimism and perform flawlessly until they are cutdown. Its not a job for the weak and yes you are an expendable tool of our political agenda.

It is an odd feeling when you are around guys like this. I have never met anyone I knew to be a SEAL, but I spent some time with some Israeli commandos who were part of the raid on Entebbe. There is something about the way they move and the way the look around them that is unsettling. Not in any kind of scary way because, if anything, they make you feel safe, but you just get the feeling that they look at the world in a very different way.

This is a total ripoff of the Kim Kardashian movie, "A## of Marshmallow". I know it's lame but I can't go to sleep.

Yes. They are hard working patriots who believe they can protect the nation. More heart than anyone can believe and great equanimity. They are not ordinary fellows, but most of them think that they are...their motto: "the only easy day was yesterday".

Faith, the sad part is when these Navy Seals come home wounded, they are left with paying big health bills. Perhaps the profits from this movie should go to them, then I will pay to see it. God Bless our Brave troops fighting for us through out the World. AMEN. Mitt wants to attack Iran, from what I heard on the last Republican debate. Is he willing to send any of his Children to Iran to fight?

We can support the soldier but not necessarily the government policy sending them in harms way. However you look at it, best to follow your best thinking and be true to it.

Cuoi, so true and I would like to add to your post by saying any profits from this movie should go to pay for health care for these brave Troops that come home wounded or suffer from post traumatic illnesses

It is extraordinarily difficult to get through the BUD/S program. I suspect this is a recruitment film. Should be very interesting, especially for those that have only heard from members of the teams," oh yeah, nothing exciting, just the usual" for years !
03:07 AM on 01/11/2012
Apparently it started out as a recruitment film for SWCC - the boat teams - and the Navy then allowed them to create a full length film - even made the SEALS participate. They didn't volunteer.
