Deion Branch Touchdown: Patriots WR Mocks Jets Fan 'Fireman Ed'

If familiarity breeds contempt then it's no surprise that the New England Patriots and New York Jets share such a healthy dislike. Entering Sunday night's pivotal AFC East matchup, the two franchises were deadlocked at 52-52-1 in all-time meetings, including the postseason.

Having spent so much time in recent seasons strategizing to beat one another, these teams understand each others schemes and personnel as better as they do any other teams in the NFL. More than that, they know the personalities of the personnel -- and even some of the fans.

After catching an 8-yard touchdown pass from Pats quarterback Tom Brady in the fourth quarter, wide receiver Deion Branch celebrated by mocking the antics of the most well-known Jets fan, Fireman Ed.

Fireman Ed famously leads the fans in the Meadowlands in the signature "J-E-T'-S" chant throughout the game. After Branch's score (and the ensuing PAT) pushed the Pats' lead to 30-16, there was precious little for Ed and the rest of the green-clad faithful in Jersey to cheer about. The Patriots would go on to win 37-16.
