Wherever you're spending the holidays, it's a good idea to pick up a gift for your hostess. After all of the planning and cleaning and marinating and basting, a token of thanks will mean a lot to her, especially if it's something out of the ordinary. That's where Etsy comes in. We partnered with that beloved purveyor of all things handmade and pretty to curate this selection of gifts for your hostess. Even if she seems to have everything, one of these small, affordable gifts from you could make the holiday that much more special for her.

"I love food and I love France, so doing some drawings of french pastries seemed like a it would be a lot of fun ... and it was!" says Eva Jorgensen, who runs Sycamore Street Press with her husband, Kirk. She hand draws all of the designs and her husband prints them out on their 1940s letterpress. "He cranks each piece of paper through by hand one at a time, one color at a time. But it's so worth it when you see the impression it creates in the thick cotton paper. Just beautiful!" she says.

Jorgensen says the idea for her 2012 French Pastry Calendar arose from her family's love of cooking: "The women in my family are all wonderful cooks, and they all hang one of our letterpress poster calendars in their kitchen every year. It's a practical year-at-a-glance calendar, a work of art, and a conversation piece all at the same time," Jorgensen says.

I know time is at a premium for young folks, but I’m from an era when homemade cookies in a holiday tin was always a welcomed gift. I liked the ideas in the article but the word “affordable” is no longer one-size-fits all. As a hostess, I like to give our guests a small gift when they’re leaving. This year, I bought inexpensive chunky candles, hot-glued cinnamon sticks all around them, and I tied with a raffia bow. I wrapped them in cellophane, added another raffia bow at the top with a tiny “Thank You for Joining Us” tag. They look pretty, smell great for months, and everyone likes them. The cost was a little under $2.25 each. When I’m a guest, I make my own cello wrapped fruit baskets because it seems like everyone else brings wine. Enjoy the holidays!

Only the wine and macaroons are with it as a gift, but even then would think twice before giveing them to people? Can't you find anything better to give someone?

Why so many "wine" gifts? Too many. I would have liked to see more variety.

Love-love-love some of these suggestions from Etsy. There are a number of Etsy hostess gift ideas on the list below but it also includes some other great ideas. My fave are the Personalized Glass Drinking Jars and Custom Family Name Sign.
