'Twilight' Fans Get Dolled Up For The Premiere Of 'Breaking Dawn Part 1' (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 11/14/2011 2:13 pm   Updated: 11/14/2011 2:29 pm

Fans are already lining up outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles to await the premiere of "Breaking Dawn Part 1," which takes place tonight. The movie hits theaters on Friday, but CBS News reports that some "Twilight" fans have been camping out for five days in anticipation of the celeb-studded premiere tonight.

To keep the patient fans entertained, some supporting cast members, including Cullen family patriarch Peter Facinelli, werewolves Jackson Rathbone and BooBoo Stewart and Volturi vixens Casey LaBow and MyAnna Buring showed up yesterday for a morning autograph and photo-taking session. Author Stephanie Meyer also turned up to give away autographed copies of her books, of which fans no doubt already possessed several well-thumbed copies.

Some ladies came decked out in wedding gowns, since the movie features Edward and Bella's marriage and honeymoon. Other stuck to the usual "Twilight" fan hobby of making their own t-shirts, curling up in blankets and sweaters when the air turned chilly. With all the tents, we can't help but note a visual similarity to some other people camping out in New York right now. Occupy Robert Pattinson?

Check out some photos of "Twilight" fan couture below.

I read the "Twilight" books and they are a lot of fun.
However, it cracks me up how there was this outcry by "good" christians against Harry Potter for being satanic, when Rowling's books had fabulous moral lessons (love of family, loyalty to friends, courage in the face of adversity, standing up to evil, etc). "Twilight", when you get down to it, is the story of a 17 year old girl who is so physically in lust with a boy she knows little to nothing about that she's willing to give up her family and die for him. Any "good Christian" outcry here? Oh, noooo. The hypocrisy amuses me to no end.
Anyway. Fun stuff, can't wait to see the movie. God knows, we all need something enjoy right now.

"......werewolves Jackson Rathbone and BooBoo Stewart......."

Jackson is a Cullen, not a wolf:)

He is part of the Cullen family, but his name is Jasper Hale, not Cullen. I love the books, but my daughter and I go to see the movie just to see how badly they compare to the books. Yes I know the book is always better, but when they not only delete important parts of the book but add parts that didn't even happen, it kinda ruins it. And whlie I'm on it, Robert Pattinson was good as Sedrick Diggery (probably spelled wrong) in Harry Potter but he doesn't match the character traits in Twilight at all! And for all you Team Edward and Team Jacob fans I say Go Team Emmett!!!!!

It's not my thing, but I can't knock people for finding something they like and connect with and either dressing up for it or buying or creating items for it or camping out to see it or catch a glimpse. Comic Con, LARP-ing,Blizzcon, dressing like a hard core biker and pretending to be a Son of Anarchy on the fair weather weekends, a RenFaire fan, Pirate fans,Star Wars, Star Trek, those Viking Raid clubs, lining up for days for a sale or an any Apple Product and being jazzed about technology, Mucha Lucha And I say this as I watch Monday night football and in a lot of senses see the same sort of fan frenzy and phenomenon going on.Same can be said for any other sport be it professional, college, HS or a private league. Tonight for Twi-hards is what Super Bowl Sunday is for football fans and I can see a lot of parallels drawn. It's a fan base, they get excited to be part of it even if they aren't directly connected and they support their passion with cheering, costume, personal sacrifice of comfort and a desire to meet their "heros". They have a life and their living it how it makes them happy as we all should.

Reminds me of this picture I saw with a bunch of middle-aged women cheering at the theater. It was captioned "Twilight Moms: If this was a bunch of 40-year old men cheering for 17-year old girls, someone would call the police."

I guess this whole premiere insanity means I'm not going to go to the gym tonight (it's 7 blocks away from Nokia center). ;)

I don't hate Twilight -- if I was a teenager,l I'd probably be into the whole vampire thing, and would think Robert Pattinson is hot -- but really, people, 1200 camped out in tents for days just to be on the bleachers and see the stars in person for, what, 12 seconds? Geez...
07:14 AM on 11/15/2011
How dare those insane people interfere with your work out!!! Hey to each his own. Who are you to judge. I'm sure that you have done things that made people question your judgement. I'm not a teenager and enjoyed the books. The movies, not so much.

While we all have different tastes in literary genres, there is a difference between good and bad writing and quality and poor story telling.
Stephenie Meyer is not a good writer. Stylistically, narrative-wise, et cetera.
She is just not talented.
Her stories don't "flow" well, her diction and syntax are amateur, her plot structure is weak.
How can movies based on, imo, bad writing possibly be expected to be any better than this?
I'm surprised the first one (which my best friend, gotta lover her, said I would like because I like "Buffy") was as tolerable as it was. I won't see the rest.

I appreciate her because it actually got one of my kids interested in reading who struggled with it, didn't enjoy it and saw it as a chore. So it wasn't until Twilight that for my kid it ignited a spark of encouragement to read more and broaden their book sense and curiosity and appreciation. It may have sucked harder to some than any vampire in fiction history, but I appreciated all it did give.

Well, I am glad your kiddo is literary now!

I don't know about diction, syntax, and flow but I couldn't put the books down. Aparently, she is doing something right. I think you have to remember that your opinion is just that, an opinion. Just one of many. She is being paid a ton of money to write. Are you?

1. The lady dressed as Chaz Bono in the first pic, I would have never guessed she liked men...wow.

2. I thought only teenagers loved the simple romantic guff of Twilight?

I did too, until I saw a 40+ year old woman at the supermarket a few years ago with a 'Twilight' tattoo on the back of her neck. I retched.
