1,000 Places To See Before You Die: What's Your Number One?

The perennial guide to iconic travel destinations, "1,000 Places To See Before You Die," is back with a brand-new edition. To celebrate the myriad of gorgeous, tasty and just plain amazing spots chronicled in the book, the team at HuffPost Travel immediately started wander-lusting after the places mentioned in the book that we haven't yet visited. With 1,000 must-see's across Patricia Schultz's pages, we began wondering exactly which spots were can't-miss destinations and which could be skipped depending on your preferences.

We read the entire book, stopping to gasp, comment and bookmark several pages along the way, and came up with the ultimate 16 spots you must see before you die. Now it's up to you. Vote on the 16 locations below and help us figure out what is the absolute top destination you can't go without visiting. We'll announce your winner on November 28th and 5 voters who leave comments throughout the challenge will be chosen at random to receive a copy of the book! Remember, you must be a registered Huffington Post user to win so that we can contact you.

Did we leave out your favorite spot? Tweet us on Twitter at the hashtag #1000Places. We'll pick one honorary destination to win at the end of the challenge.

Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are 18 and older and are registered Huffington Post users. To enter, leave a comment on this post and vote on the bracket challenge. The comment must be left before 11:59pm on 11/17/2011, Eastern Time. You may enter (1) one time and (5) five winners will be selected at random to win a copy of the new version of the book "1000 Places To See Before You Die," one winner per bracket segment.
