The 27-year-old daughter of former Mayor Richard Daley will marry her fiance in a ceremony rescheduled for this week, rather than a previously planned New Year's Eve date, due to concerns for her mother Maggie's health.

Elizabeth "Lally" Daley, Richard and Maggie's younger daughter, will marry long-time boyfriend Sam Hotchkiss In Chicago on Thursday, which is also her birthday, according to Crain's Chicago Business. The two met during their college years.

The wedding was reportedly moved up so that Chicago's former first lady Maggie Daley, who has been battling metastatic breast cancer since 2002, can fully participate in the festivities.

As CBS Chicago reports, Maggie had a difficult summer health-wise, but she is excited about the upcoming ceremony, according to Daley spokeswoman Jackie Heard.

A lot of people who have followed the Daley family for our whole lives and apart from mayoral politics, admire Maggie Daley.
She was a wonderful first lady for the city.
Also, anyone with compassion, cares that her daughter wants to take her mother's health into account. Who wouldn't want their mother to be able to celebrate at their wedding?
