'Bon Appetit' Overhaul: Magazine's New Kitchen Marks Big Changes

The New Face Of 'Bon Appetit'

Last night, Bon Appetit editor-in-chef Adam Rapoport unveiled the "BA Kitchen," a new food event space designed by acclaimed restaurant design firm AvroKO. To celebrate the launch, the magazine invited a host of celebrities (Ryan Phillippe, Solange Knowles, Penn Badgley) and chefs (Tom Colicchio, Marcus Samuelsson, Christina Tosi) to drink and chow down on fried chicken. Oh, and the fried chicken was a recipe from Questlove of The Roots, who was also DJing the event (he is quite the food enthusiast). And it was really good -- crunchy and slightly spicy outside with super moist meat.

Before Bon Appetit tapped Rapoport, then a GQ editor, as editor-in-chief, many suspected changes were in store for the magazine. Once he started, new staff was hired, Gwyneth Paltrow was put on the cover and John Hodgman chased some turkeys. Bon Appetit is a different brand, and magazine, than it was a year ago. If you've read the past few issues of Bon Appetit, let us know your thoughts on the facelift in the comments.
