Gifford Bids Philbin A Teary Farewell

Kathie Lee Gifford appeared on Regis Philbin's second to last taping of "Live! With Regis and Kelly" Thursday morning. Gifford was scheduled as one of many A-list guests to bid Philbin farewell during his final week on the show.

Gifford walked on set with teary eyes. Gifford co-hosted "Live!" with Philbin for 15 years and left the program in 2000.

Philbin was not as emotional. Instead, he told Gifford that there's just one thing he wanted to know: did she ever feel any sexual tension with him while they co-hosted the show together? He told her to answer the question "honest to God." Gifford laughed, looked at the audience, and firmly announced "no!"

Gifford went from her guest appearance to her daily gig, co-hosting "Today's" fourth hour with Hoda Kotb.

Kotb asked Gifford what it was like to go back to her old studio. Gifford said that she grew emotional over the thought of Philbin's last day and said she will be in the studio again on Friday with her husband Frank Gifford. (The show will not host a regular studio audience on Philbin's last day).

Gifford also announced what she thought Philbin should do next: join the cast of TV Guide's "Hot In Cleveland." She said that the show should create a story arc for Philbin as Betty White's love interest.

"He would be her cub!" Gifford said of her idea, since White is 10 years older than Philbin.
