Jerry Seinfeld Talks Jose Reyes With David Letterman (VIDEO)

Seinfeld Names His Dog After Jose Reyes

As we into the Major League Baseball's 'Hot Stove' season heats up, fans in Flushing are resigning themselves to the likelihood that star shortstop Jose Reyes will no longer be playing for the New York Mets. Fox Sports reported on Tuesday that not only do the Miami Marlins want Reyes, but Reyes wants to play in Miami for new manager Ozzie Guillen.

With neither the team's struggles in recent seasons and Reyes' impending free agency a secret, Mets fans have been preparing for Reyes' possible departure for a while now. Comedian Jerry Seinfeld, an avid Mets fan, talked about how he is dealing with the potential loss on "The Late Show" with David Letterman. Seinfeld said that his family recently got a dog and decided to name him Jose.

"You want to know why the dog is named Jose?" he asked. "The dog is named Jose because I feel like we may lose Jose Reyes, and we're trying to keep a Jose. Because I'm a Met fan. It's actually my wife's idea, which is why I love my wife. She comes up with ideas like this. That's a marriage right there, a wife that says 'Let's name a dog after the Mets' outgoing shortstop.' That keeps the love alive."

So, that's one way to deal with it.
