Chalkdust Torture: MJD Mocks Cleveland With LeBron Powder Toss Celebration

As a prefatory note for those of you who haven't yet picked up a copy of Scott Raab's "The Whore Of Akron:" The city of Cleveland does not like LeBron James.

The former star of the Cleveland Cavaliers burned many bridges on his way out of the town that was once convinced he could walk on water. Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew was well aware of this history after he shrugged off several tacklers to reach the endzone on Sunday. After cannonballing his way through a scrum for six, MJD mimicked James' signature pregame chalkdust toss in the endzone as he faced the Cleveland fans.

Made famous during his seven seasons in Cleveland, James' powder toss was a key part of his marketing iconography. But just as "witness" became "quitness" in the aftermath of James' "Decision," the powder toss has undergone a change in meaning, going from homegrown inspiration to out-of-towners insult.

The fans at Cleveland Browns Stadium would have the last laugh -- at least, for today -- as the Browns held off a late scoring bid by the Jaguars to secure a 14-10 win.
