The school lunch system in the US has been hijacked by agribusiness and local bureaucracies.

Many schools don't even have working kitchens anymore. They just reheat premade, industrial foodstuff.

Every school system should employ an executive chef. There should be regular assemblies to talk about food and nutrition. You may argue that it seems a luxury or outrageous given these tough economic times but food is at the core of any culture. How we feed our children says a lot about who we are.

Love the idea of a food truck serving school children.

Jamie Oliver was tremendously successful in changing school lunches in England. He tried, here, by going directly to the schools....but stubborness won.

I can appreciate Rocco letting kids taste good, healthy food, but that's not going to put good food on the grocery list, pay for them, and cook them.

No, but their parents will have to learn to cook. Do you think the parents will do that? Rocco needs to open a "cooking school" for parents only.

Because they hate, hate, HATE us. It's very annoying. My local paper has an option to stop autoplay. But it NEVER works. I've selected it multiple times.

This is such a great idea. It seems that since Congress doesn't believe in kids eating healthy, then celebrities are stepping up to the plate to show kids how it is done. I love that!

You big government statists just want government to regulate our diets and tell us what we can and cannot eat. No thanks.

Progressive government is totalitarian government.

No one is telling you what you "cannot" eat. Listen and learn, that is the message.

What you put in your mouth is you business, of course. Teaching our kids about healthy choices is our responsibility as the adults in their lives. How they take that knowledge into adulthood is their business.

Have you watched Jamie Oliver in West Virginia?

Kids don't even know what a real tomato looks like.

How can people make choices if they are uneducated.

How's that Reagan ketchup/vegetable thing been working out for you?
