Chuck Norris In 'World Of Warcraft' Commercial (VIDEO)

"Chuck Norris is a hunter. But Chuck Norris does not hunt. Hunting would imply the possibility of failure."

That's only partially a lame new Chuck Norris joke. It's also how Chuck (who is now 71) is reintroduced to us in a new commercial, as the face of "World of Warcraft." We're not sure who the joke is on here -- does Chuck help the game's image or sully it? Or are they on equal ground, a perfect match?

Not sure about the reasoning behind aiming a commercial at people who are already using the product. The ones who will get the joke are already WoW players.
If Blizzard wants to keep the customer base they already have, they should quit dumbing down the game. Every time a new expansion comes out, the game gets easier (as in, the achievements take less skill and/or determination to get) and a little more simple-minded.

Some of you get this and some do not which separates the 'gamers' from everyone else who flirt with being permanently zombified in the world of the muggles.

On another note - WoW is apparently hemoraging subscriptions. It was probably the changes they made to the PvP (player vs player) aspect of the game a few years ago and they continue to attempt to make PvP a gear oriented "achievement" and meld it with child like PvE. (Player vs Environment).

Same mistake alot of MMOs make. Too much candy and not enough structural immersion or challenge.

Dark Age of Camelot still has reign on combat or "realm vs realm" concept even though BioMythics idea of MMO has been corrupted just like all the others.

For non gamers the Chuck Norris reference is a spoof joke amoung gamers who fake an overwhelming loyalty and worship of all things Chuck in mock sincerety to characterize and provoke lesser gamers who may actually have genuine feelings of admiration towards Chuck's tv characters.

I find it hilarious even though alot of gamers can spam jokes for hours without pause of the same nature. I find it even funnier when it goes too far.

WoW will be a behemouth nomatter if they lose a few million subscriptions but gaming is fickle mistress and lovers like to change partners often. Chuck wont save the bleeding.

lol they are getting desperate. Cataclysm sucked, Deathwing was a joke on the ptr, h-rag was hard, and so was h-nefarian but that was before the nerf. Diablo 3 will kill WoW and even chuck norris cant stop that.

I actually had a ton of fun throughout all of WoTLK. It might of had something to do with the crowd I was with, the encounters were above average but sometimes fantastic, except uld which was amazing the whole time. But cata just lost something for me and I can't tell you exactly what it was but something threw me and my friends off.

I expect Blizzard to ramp up its WoW marketing campaign in the face of the first real MMO contender since its launch (Star Wars: The Old Republic) is almost ready to be released...and when it does it will suck a huge number of WoW players away.

They said Rift was the end of WoW. Rift sucked. They said Skyrim was to be the end. The Rimmers are already flooding back with tales of it being a lame knock-off.... WoW is doing just fine. They could lose half their base and still be one of the biggest on the block.
