Martin Scorsese Gets Back To His Roots: 'The Snowman' Is Director's next Film

Martin Scorsese To Direct 'The Snowman'

While Martin Scorsese may be impressing audiences with his first foray into 3D, he will soon be getting back to the crime thrillers we're used to.

After securing final approval from author Jo Nesbo, the director will be taking on a film adaptation of bestseller "The Snowman," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The novel follows Norwegian gumshoe Harry Hole, an "anti-authoritarian, anti-sobriety" cop, as he solves gruesome and complex murders.

In "Snowman," the seventh book in Nesbo's franchise, a son discovers his mother's pink scarf around the neck of a scary-looking snowman. Hole realizes this is no Christmas jingle; she is the latest victim of a serial killer.

While this is the first English adaptation of Nesbo's work, an adaptation of another novel, "Headhunters," has become one of the most successful Norwegian films of all time.
