2011 Thanksgiving Turkey Eating World Championship: Sonya 'Black Widow' Thomas Wins (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

WATCH: Thanksgiving Turkey Eating World Championship

This morning, competitive eaters assembled in New York's Times Square for the Thanksgiving Turkey Eating World Championship, sponsored by Wild Turkey 81. The eaters were greeted with whole 10-pound turkeys, and were challenged to eat as much as possible in 10 minutes. Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas was declared victorious; she ate 5.25 pounds of turkey and took home the $1,581 prize. The Black Widow is a force to reckoned with -- at only 100 pounds, she routinely smothers her much larger male competitors. Eric "Badlands" Booker received $750 for second place, followed by Allen "Shredder" Goldstein in third ($500) and Maria "Edible" in fourth ($250).

In conjunction with the event, Wild Turkey made charitable donation of 81 turkeys to a New York metro food bank to help families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. In addition, Major League Eating, the umbrella organization that plans competitive eating events, will make a contribution to the Food Bank for New York City.
