We learned about The Smoking Gun from Top Chef All-Stars winner Richard Blais, and we've been big fans ever since. This handheld food smoker infuses your food with the essence of smoky hickory or applewood, without burning the house down or having to light up an outdoor barbecue. The best part? You can add the smoky flavors to just about any food you can imagine -- fish, meat, butter, mayonnaise, desserts, and anything your taste buds desire.

Interesting things, but couldn't they have picked things that are a little cheaper?

That vacuum coffee maker is way overpriced. You'll get better brew out of a moka pot for less than that.

I try to stay away from artificial "smoke flavoring," thanks. And you might want to take the pit out of the avocado before you weigh it, unless you plan on eating the pit.

I have a Kenwood Blender and also Kenwood Kmix stand mixer both better than Vitamix blender.

slightly off topic but if you buy a Stand mixer ., look at Kenwood instead of KitchenAid ., you pay for the name with Kitchen Aid.

with a recently diagnosed diabetic & heart patient in my home, I'm thinking that scale is worth a look. I have always read labels but didn't worry too much about EXACT measurements (is that a small apple or a medium? How much IS 3 ounces of rotisserie chicken? etc). Now that my husband is actually paying attention, I would probably pay $100 to make it possible for him to watch these things when he's making his own food.

the rest of it does seem to mostly fall in the "more money than brains" category of gadgetry. At $20, the Bernz-o-matic might make the fun vs. cost ratio. Maybe. Probably not. Maybe.

I got one for like $15 at a local Home Depot, but that was years ago.

There is no substitute for a good scale! Plus if you're into baking, it's better to weigh your ingredients than to measure them.

$250 for a teapot is ridiculous. You can get a decent Bodum glass teapot and a timer for less than a tenth of the price. Besides, if you're such a tea enthusiast that you'd even consider paying $250 for a teapot, you are most likely using loose leaf rather than teabags anyway!

Right on target. WAY overpriced for a cup of tea, or anything else for that matter. And tea bags are so last century. If you're not using loose tea, then you are missing out. Personally, I use a Japanese tetsubin (cast iron) teapot every single day for my tea and use a $10 water kettle to heat the tea water. The cast iron keeps my tea hot and the kettle has lasted over 20 years. Cheap, easy and efficient. If you can't remember to remove the tea leaves, set a timer!!! Free....which is a whole lot less than $250.

The coffee maker is cool (I watched the video) but it seems a bit dangerous...

The correct link for the measuring cup, so you won't be snookered.

Meh. Buy yourself a silicone spatula (they resist high heat so you can use them in hot saucepans) and you'll have improved your kitchen gadgetry quotient plenty. Cheap!

Some of the joys of cooking lay in its imperfections, happy accidents, and daring substitutions. Fancy gadgets are mostly junk that soon gather dust in a corner because they are not really better than what they are replacing or they are buggers to clean and deservedly relegated to the yard sale for 1/20th their retail value.

I hate gadgets. I follow the Alton Brown school of thought there. The only things here I would consider are the blender and the induction plate. But at almost $500 they can keep that blender.
