Woman In Labor Gets A Flat Tire En Route To Hospital

A car carrying a pregnant woman in labor got a flat tire on the Eisenhower Expressway while it was en route to a hospital early Tuesday in Chicago.

But thanks to a quick response from the Illinois Department of Transportation, a roadside delivery was not required. According to the Chicago Tribune, the couple in the car called Illinois State police around 12:30 a.m. and said their car had gotten a flat along the inbound Eisenhower, near Independence Boulevard.

When IDOT arrived, they quickly patched up the tire. Though an ambulance had also been sent to the scene, the couple refused medical treatment, the Tribune reports.

They then proceeded to the hospital on their own, according to CBS Chicago, and the woman reportedly gave birth to a baby boy shortly thereafter.
