'Breaking Dawn' Seizures: 'Twilight' Movies Inducing Illness, Say Reports

Breaking Dawn

The number one movie in America is allegedly giving some viewers seizures.

"Breaking Dawn, Part 1," the first part of the "Twilight Saga" finale, contains a graphic birthing scene involving star Kristen Stewart and the violent delivery of her child. ABC reports that the flashing of colors and bright lights have caused multiple viewers to suffer from photosensitive epilepsy, including a Salt Lake City man who was, "mumbling and he was blinking on and off with his eyes," his wife told the news network.

During the build-up to "Breaking Dawn," Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and director Bill Condon promised that the birthing scene would be as graphic and dramatic as possible.

"I think within the confines of a PG-13 rating, I think we've got something that's pretty powerful," Condon told Box Office Magazine, saying the scene was like one out of a horror film. "And in terms of the birth, it was, 'Let's do it from Bella's point of view. Let's see whatever she can see.' Once you decide on an approach like that, it's amazing how powerful you can be without being overly explicit."

This is not the first film to allegedly cause seizures; in 2009, James Cameron's digital extravaganza, "Avatar," also reportedly caused some viewers to break into convulsions.

"Breaking Dawn, Part 1," made $138 million domestically last weekend and is estimated to win the Thanksgiving weekend box office as well.

My friend has a seizure disorder and didn't know about others having seizures during the movie, and she had a seizure while seeing the film. If you have a seizure disorder, don't see this movie!

The most disturbing movie I have ever seen. “Breaking Dawn”! The movie that supposedly targets the “twihard” followers who are preteens.
I would NEVER let me preteen daughter go to see such horror. A ghastly wedding with a sad and sulky bride in an equally ghastly wedding dress, on the arm of a totally confused Dad, a honeymoon that should be in a rated “R” horror movie, a vampire biting open a pregnant woman’s belly to retrieve a baby with his mouth dripping with blood then handing the infant to another vampire who looks at it as if it is the next convenient Meal! Horrendous fights between men turned wolves and vampires pretending to be human. I could go on. But Why?
What in hell was Summit Entertainment thinking?
If your preteen has not seen this movie please see it before taking her/him to such a dreadful and unpleasant (to say the least!) movie.
The only redeeming feature was Jacob!
My daughter who is an adult in her twenties was equally disturbed!

I don't like Twilight. It's great for a love story, but when you start putting in "Vampires" and "Warewolves" it just loses me completely. Anyway. I saw the second one and cried because it was so bad. After hearing about these 'seizures' with this birth scene I was like 'ok I gotta see this'. So I looked up the birth scene and watched it. It was nothing. It was boring. The only thing freaky was when she snapped in half from her back being broken. And by the way...Edward was waaaay to calm when Bella died. I'm sorry, if the love of my immortal life died I would freak. Bad acting, horribly boring scene. I don't understand all this.

Right on! As far as I am concerned thee will be only one good vampire flick and that one is called Nosferatu. It was made back in the day of non talking movies. Have you seen it? To me that was one scary movie!

'Nosferatu' is THE vampire movie. In all the vintage vibe of silent films, it had just enough visual and elusiveness to shake you. All the others put too much Hollywood in them.

The only people getting seizures at the Twilight birthing scene seem to be men... perhaps men unfamiliar with birthing and babies???

Don't panic.

True. You'd think they'd make sure movies and games DON'T cause seizures before they're released!

Sorry, I loved the film, but, I can see where some might have gone into a seizure, but they would have at other places as well with similar inducements, I think some are claiming it hoping they can sue and make some money.

My sister and her friend got sick watching that scene, but it was because it looked disgusting, and Kristen Stewart looked so sick in it. They almost vomited in the theater.
