Women's UFO Symposium Takes On ET Hunters' 'Old Boys Club'

First Posted: 11/28/11 09:52 AM ET Updated: 11/28/11 09:52 AM ET

The Book of Odds, an online reference site, indicates that men are more likely than women to report witnessing UFOs.

And for decades, presenters at UFO conferences have been predominantly male -- until now. The first annual Women's UFO Symposium is gearing up to offer a new perspective and restore balance to the growing world of gatherings where people present their ideas and experiences in UFOlogy.

"Women are not on the forefront of many UFO conferences. It's kind of an old boys club," said symposium organizer Paola Harris.

"There are so many wonderful researchers out there that have literally dedicated their lives to a cause, and they deserve to balance the energy," she told The Huffington Post.

The conference will take place May 19-20, 2012 (men are welcome to attend), in Glen Rose, Texas, near the site of a well-publicized group of UFO sightings in the town of Stephenville in 2008, when hundreds of people reported different types of UFOs, triangular and disc-shaped. Some of the eyewitness accounts described unidentified craft larger than a football field.

The topics presented by the speakers at the Texas women's UFO event will include multiple-witness encounters, alien abduction, the media and UFOs and anti-satellite weapons.

"The ladies are great, but for me, there are two historical significances," said Harris, author of "Connecting the Dots: Making Sense of the UFO Phenomenon." "Number one, that it's being held near Stephenville, the site of the 2008 UFO event, and where Stephenville newspaper reporter Angelia Joiner lost her job over reporting this case, and we're giving her a special award."

The second historical event is the 65th anniversary of the 1947 UFO sighting that started the modern era of reports. Private pilot Kenneth Arnold claimed to see a group of unexplained flying objects near Mount Rainier in Washington state. When he described them to the press as appearing like saucers skipping across water, the term "flying saucer" was born.

The keynote speaker at the women's conference will be Arnold's daughter, Kim (pictured at left with Kenneth Arnold), speaking for the first time about her father's experiences, not just with his initial historic 1947 UFO encounter but with subsequent ones.

"I convinced Kim, for historical purposes, to talk about the fact that her father had more than one sighting," Harris said. "There's material around Kenneth Arnold that isn't very well known, and as an investigative journalist, I want that out there."

The mistress of ceremonies for the conference is Tracie Austin Peters, a trained concert pianist and executive producer and host of her own cable TV talk show, "Let's Talk ... Paranormal."

"The vision for me of this event is a collection of really great, dedicated, serious women within the study and research of UFOlogy. Each woman involved with this carries their own weight with this particular genre," Peters told HuffPost.

Peters, who has had her own share of personal UFO sightings and is the author of "Welcome to Haunted Las Vegas, Nevada," says that while she'd be equally comfortable with a conference of all men, she's especially happy this is going to be a symposium exclusively of women.

"When you've got a panel like this, the female energy is one that is very unique and brings a very sensitive approach to it," she explained. "I can't speak from a guy's point of view. There may be some men that totally connect with it and some that won't.

"At the end of the day, it's the information, and these women are very respected in the field of UFOlogy. These are credible women who are used to the platform of UFO conferences and seminars, so I think it's going to be something very unique."

And Harris hopes that symposium attendees will come away from the event with something special.

"A sense that this is real, that we are part of something greater -- a greater universe and mystery. And a sense that people can really join together, not on a commercial level, but on a fraternal, or sister, level to diffuse a message.

"And the message is to study it and try to connect the dots on your own."

Not long ago I sent Mr Regan a photo of an actual UFO, which was hovering over a Railway track in the Village of Walkford Dorset. Further more what you see in the photo is in fact the inside of one of these so-called ‘ORBS’ the silver metallic arm that is touching the electrified railway line is clearly defined as is the creature inside.Mr pat Regan is head of Head of NW UFO Research.

When I first saw the silver ‘ORB’ it was just hovering near the railway embankment as I got my camera ready to take the photo I said to myself well do something, then the Silver metallic orb unfolded from right to left revealing the creature inside, which somewhat resembles a ‘Snakes Head’. Notice the metallic collar, which seems to house the mechanism to control the shaping of the long metallic like arm.

If you examine the photo carefully you should notice an illuminated blob directly in front of the creature it looks as though it spat at something on the bush see photo and left click to enlarge image. http://www.ufodigest.com/article/ufo-pictured-hovering-over-railway-track-dorset-uk

We have all seen the concept of Bionic Man so is it stretching the imagination too far to say that perhaps some intelligence has perhaps merged Bionics with reptiles?

There is more to this @ http://bit.ly/qE9ZRs

It is, I suppose, a good thing to have a solid demographic mix when studying the habits of the gullible among us.

It's about time. However it is quite disappointing that the keynote is a woman talking about her father's experiences. It'd strike a more progressive tone if it was a woman talking about HER own experiences.

Do these many women's events mean we are still fighting the war for equality, or are they easy ways to make a buck?

Paola, It is fantastic, that you are pulling this conference together, with the focus on women UFO researchers/exopoliticians. Susan and I would love to attend, but we have already set our travel plans for next year. I will promote your event on the Exopolitics Canada site. I know it will be successfull, and suggest you think about holding a similar one in NYC in the fall. Your friend and brother in UFO truth, Mike.

"Exopoliticians"? That's priceless.
01:43 PM on 12/02/2011
For the record, exopolitics is the next logical step beyond collecting more UFO data. It is about applying the 60+ years of accumulated UFO cases, photos, research, etc, and going 'Political' with it. It's about conducting planetary politics with an "Exo' or beyond Earth perspective. Exopolitics assumes that UFO's are real and that we live in a fully populated universe. It's an assumption based on thousands of cases and reliable wittnesses, including pilots and police officers around the world.

I had nothing better to do so I attended a Bigfoot Symposium in Tyler, TX last September. I slept through most of it but the people were interesting. Many looked a lot like the pictures of Bigfoot. I may just go to this conference to see if any of the attendees look "alien". Ladies, welcome to our world. The male Texas world that I mean. I love Texas. There is always something weird to do.

If one believes in the ETs then how does one explain the fact that they won't have anything to do with us. Been going on for a long time, dates back thousands of years but to date they stiff us?? I will admit to seeing some things I couldn't explain, but couldn't shake the fact that they won't come forward and can't justify why they wouldn't. If they are that far advanced, then surely we are no threat!

If you've studied the history of UFOs and UFO related phenomena, ETs have had contact with humans. President Eisenhower, it is alleged, met with extraterrestrials (http://goo.gl/frDqg). There is also the matter of the MJ-12 documents which are quite extraordinary (http://goo.gl/8nuuN).

It is alleged?? Nixon didn't alledge he spent a day with Elvis, he had photo and media proof. Come on, I am asking why they aren't prevalent, not saying they don't exist (although I won't say they will) . Why are they so 'shy". They are so far advanced (they would have to be to travel as they alledegedly do) what do they fear?
I have some great stories of my own that cannot be explained, but then again, I still haven't heard an explanation for a tree either! It is what I have alledged ;-)

because they want to study the human race and see how we grow, imagine if they threw themselves into our lives all of a sudden. imagine how things would change...

Yes, imagine. Now try to imagine the positive aspects of it. Think of the access they would have. We study animals, right? Now imagine if we found some animals that could communicate and reason ........imagine what we would learn!! Yes, imagine. Your assumptions lack reasoning, maybe your right????

Glad to see woman getting more involved in this important topic. The more people reporting and participating the better the chances are for disclosure and earlier release of key info. You can read about much of it at;

Great posted article on this upcoming conference, and on my friend Paola Harris. (I live in the same town she does and get to see her frequently as a friend and client!) She is a very courageous and tireless researcher into the UFO field (or ExoPolitics as she calls it)....doing a labor of love on each book, talk, and now this new conference with women speakers.
