Black Friday saw a record number of shoppers flock to stores. While the in-person purchase still has plenty of followers, Cyber Monday serves as a growing bookend to the beginning of the holiday shopping season.

Among the items in demand are ebooks. Yet, as PaidContent notes, not all companies grant readers the option to give ebooks as single gifts.

That's where Open Road's business idea comes into play. The digital publishing company provides how-to videos, helping customers sort through the process of choosing a retailer for all sorts of formats, from Barnes & Noble's Nook to Amazon's Kindle. Coupled with that benefit is a Cyber Monday special called "The Gift of E" -- where all e-books are 60 percent off regular prices.
