Miley Cyrus Supports Occupy Wall Street With 'Liberty Walk' Music Video

Count Miley Cyrus amongst the celebrities supporting Occupy Wall Street.

With her newly released music video, the teenage star joins the ranks of Russell Simmons, Mark Ruffalo, Lupe Fiasco and many others in Hollywood lending their voice to the People's Microphone. "Liberty Walks," Cyrus's latest single, sets the music to images and video from the various protests and activity around the various OWS encampments throughout the nation.

"This is Dedicated to the thousands of people who are standing up for what they believe in," the dedication at the beginning of the video reads.

Earlier in November, many celebs spoke out against the clearing of Zuccotti Park in New York by the Bloomberg administration, with twitter outrage coming from Ruffalo, Questlove, Alec Baldwin and John Cusack, amongst others.

This video is a much more constructive one for Cyrus than the birthday party footage that was leaked out on Sunday; in that video, she says she's a "stoner," though her rep has said that she was only kidding.

As a member of the lower socio-economic class and OWS supporter I don't understand the vitriol thrown at Miley Cyrus here, mostly (if not completely) by people who don't support the movement.

The OWS movement is not out to destroy people like Miley Cyrus, nor do you have to be jobless or fiscally insecure to support it.

i agree with this comment...you bring up a point that could only lead us to a socio-economic war or in other words another civil-war. Just because you are a 1%er doesn't mean that you can't support the occupy movement... Remember we dont hate capitalism, only what has been done to it.

I was initially a supporter of the Occupy Wall Street UNTIL they became OCCUPY THE TOILET. It's a shame, they can't stick to a particular cause.
Another thing, you can't occupy a park for more than a day. That would be SQUATTING.

Oh, the irony. Thanks to capitalism, she’s filthy rich (estimated earnings of $48 million in 2010!) — as much a part of the 1 percent as Michael Moore and just as ignorant of her membership in it. But never mind all that: The oh-so-desperate-to-be-an-adult Miley Cyrus proves her invincible immaturity with a remixed-song-and-video-tribute to Occupy Wall Street, unaptly named “Liberty Walk.” Doesn’t she realize it’s the Tea Party that proudly and rebelliously says, “Don’t tread on me”? Occupy LA asks Mayor Villaraigosa and city council members to be patient with our process and not bend to the will of the corporations who want to see Occupy LA brutalized. Today, Occupy LA calls on Villaraigosa to do what is necessary to halt an impending threat of a raid, so that Occupy LA can get back to its essential work of creating solutions to a global crisis that will only worsen if we do not collectively act now.
