Woman Afraid Of Kittens On 'My Extreme Animal Phobia' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/28/11 02:35 PM ET Updated: 11/28/11 02:46 PM ET

While the rest of the internet purrs over them, one woman cowers in fear at... kittens.

On an upcoming episode of "My Extreme Animal Phobia," a woman named Sandra harbors a lifelong, irrational fear of cats; she believes that they are evil and out to get her. As you can see from the clip below, even seeing them from behind plexiglass walls is enough to set her off.

Sandra's sister isn't so amused, though. "Sandra is just going ballistic," she says to the camera. "The cats, they're behind the cage, it's not like they can get to her. It's like when she hears 'meow,' it's like she starts crying. I'm like, are you serious?"

The episode airs December 2nd.

I would adopt them all but then again she would come after me for the Hoarder thing. I am not laughing at peoples phobias I know they are very very real.. but lady.. c'mon.. sometimes I have to wonder.. Most of the time this doctor is on that Hoarders show her 'clients' bomb out.. I get the 'shock' therapy.. it makes sense.. I still question this show.

I'll never forget this. I was home sick once in highschool, laying on the couch and flipping through channels on TV. I came across an episode of Maury, and there was a woman who was afraid of peaches. Really!?

I don't know if it was on the same show, but I seem to remember there was also a woman who was afraid of olives because they reminded her of dead people's eyes. So some PA brings out a huge jar of olives and this woman just runs away shrieking like a banshee.

Ha! I'm not justifying the woman's fear of olives, but at least she had a (relatively) explainable cause for her fear. But I think that may have been the same show, because after interviewing the woman who was afraid of peaches, they brought out a big basket full of them and she went running and screaming, too.

I worked with a woman who was so deathly afraid of cats that she couldn't even look at a photo of a cat. She didn't know where it came from but went to therapy to get over her fear. I don't know if she ever did, but it was quite irrational. Thankfully, it was not debilitating. She just never was around cats, an easy thing in an urban setting.

I feel for these people it is totally amazing to me,although there are so many out there which would not believe this and it is a darn shame they wouldn't believe this cause it would so easy to overcome all these fears if they did believe that the devil Satan has these people so caught up in their minds that these creatures will hurt them in some way.

Everyone has a phobia to something. Some may seem silly or fun to laugh at (an old work buddy of mine had a phobia to little people as in midgets). To them however its as real as trying to drive a car with a few wasps or rattlesnakes wandering around inside. Nothing to giggle at once you see it.

A phobia is a phobia....it's not rational nor is it something to laugh at

Well, I must be a bad person because I found this hilarious. I just could help laughing.

Maybe it's because I love cats. They really are harmless creatures, especially kittens!

you're right you are a bad person, laughing at someone's severe anxiety disorder.

I admit it.

Perhaps it's the way it's presented in the video. There is something comical about the situation.

I know a 6-foot tall, 200 pound man who is smart and successful and is petrified by cats.
09:05 PM on 11/29/2011
I can't make sense of that. Snakes, spiders bugs of all kinds - yes. Heights, crowds, flying - those too.

Fluffy, adorable animals who are one twentieth his weight and size, no. I guess that's the nature of phobias, they are irrational fears. Still...

Exactly.. I am horrified of snakes, and I dont want not to be afraid of them because I dont want them near me. And they are not cute and fluffy.
07:48 PM on 11/29/2011
Those innocent kittens are probably glad they're behind glass shields! They would be terrified that this huge, over-reactive idiot would step on one of them! I have seen over-acting, but this one takes the cake. Reality TV will do anything for the $$$.

Trust me, she is probably not acting, I know many people that are terrified of kittens/cats, I have friends that wont come over my house because I have cats. If we are outside and they see stray cats the flip, really flip, its odd. but it is a real live fear.

My aunt is scared of cats. I'm scared of spiders, which many people can relate to, but hey, everyone has something.
