Daniel Radcliffe To Play Allen Ginsberg In 'Kill Your Darlings'

Daniel Radcliffe

Looks like Jesse Eisenberg won't be playing yet another character who shares his last four surname letters after all. Twitch reports Daniel Radcliffe will replace Eisenberg as Allen Ginsberg in the 2012 gay-themed drama "Kill Your Darlings." The plot circles the friendship between Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and Lucien Carr, a key member of the Columbia Beat movement who fell out after killing his lover, David Kammerer.

There's no update as yet on the fate of Chris Evans and Ben Whishaw, the actors originally attached as Kerouac and Carr respectively. There is, however, a handy new explanation for all that poetry Dan Radcliffe's been writing.

In the meantime, check out another recent film representation of Ginsberg by -- who else? -- James Franco:

Sounds interesting. Although I doubt he'll top James Franco in Howl. I've watched that movie twice now. It's not perfect but James Franco is a dream.

I hope his is better than Franco's. That movie tried and failed.

Being better than Franco is a pretty low bar. Franco is just another Hollywood pretty boy who can't act. It will be interesting to see how Radcliffe does but I don't have very high hopes. I've seen several Hollywood attempts to represent the Beat writers and they never seem to really get it.

i think too many people try to make beats something akin to saints, and they were/are quite the opposite. ginsberg himself would be amused that poetry about his prefered sex acts would catapult him to canonization. while not exactly beats i like johnny depps hunter s thompson, benecio del toro's acosta was brilliant.

Hopefully Radcliffe does a better job acting in this role then Ginsberg did at writing.

I'm a young person, and I've enjoyed On the Road by Jack Kerouac. Some of the book really dragged for me, but other parts were interesting and beautiful, even relatable somewhat. I don't really get Beat poetry too much, though. I love poetry, but Beat poetry is too trippy random for me. If it was random yet focused like Walt Whitman (he's my favorite poet) then I might have enjoyed it more.

Read The Dharma Bums! You'll love it and probably find a kindred spirit in it for sure.

I think he has a new movie coming out soon - a thriller "lady in black" or something like that ... it will be interesting to see how he does with his career over the next few years, so far his choices have been good

It's great that Beat poetry and literature receive more attention. I hope it inspires part of a generation to rethink who they are and moves them to change and growth. How about another exorcism of the Pentagon ?

Wasn't Alan Ginsberg really unattractive? I think they should find other actors to play him, not pretty boys.

But, they can sure ugly up a person for a role. Charlize Theron looked absolutely horrid for her role as a serial killer.

Why do i feel that Daniel Radcliffe will end up playing a lot_of_homosexual_characters?..................Not that there's anything wrong with that.
