Having a Ball Downtown takes place in Columbus, Mississippi, the birthplace of Tennessee Williams. The event features a midnight ball drop and live music. The party occurs downtown, which gives partygoers access to many restaurants and bars. Venues are well-prepared for large crowds by offering many specials on food and drinks. Partiers should head downtown at 8 p.m. and plan to stay -- the revelry lasts until 12:30 a.m. More New Year's Eve details are coming from the planning committee and will be available on the website soon.
New Year's Eve In Biloxi
The Gulf Coast beach city of Biloxi, Mississippi, contains a booming gambling industry, and many of its casinos are hosting parties on New Year's Eve. Eight75, located in the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, is throwing a bash that has no cover charge, making it a great choice for a budget-friendly night. The event starts at 9 p.m. and lasts until 2 a.m. The Glenn Parker Band entertains with live music, and celebrants receive party favors and a champagne toast at midnight. This event is not for minors. Those on the casino floor will also receive complimentary glasses of champagne at midnight, while paying guests can check out the alt-rock band Better Than Ezra at 11 p.m. or Kool & The Gang on January 1 at 8 p.m. Meanwhile, next door at the Hard Rock Casino, visitors can check out the live music of Nervous Presley in one room or check out Victor DJ spinning in another. Both sets start at 9 p.m. and run through 2 a.m., and the whole casino features a midnight balloon drop and champagne toast at midnight.
New Year's Eve Celebration And Ball Drop At Latimer Park
Latimer Park in Horn Lake offers a New Year's Eve celebration the whole family can enjoy. Beginning at 8 p.m., the park offers food, music and fireworks to revelers ringing in 2012. At the stroke of midnight, families welcome the new year with an old tradition -- the ball drop. Latimer Park features a playground, walking trails, sports fields and a skate park to keep families busy while they wait for the festivities to start.
