Cable News Ratings: Top 30 Programs For November 2011 (PHOTOS, POLL)

First Posted: 11/30/11 07:32 PM ET   Updated: 11/30/11 07:34 PM ET

November's cable news ratings are out and here we go again! Like clockwork, Fox News dominated the ratings. Still, every network had an interesting story to tell.

Fox News saw its numbers drop by double digits in primetime, total day and A25-54 viewers compared to 2010. This isn't totally surprising, since that was a major election year, but the drops were steep; for instance, the network was down 30% in the demo for primetime.

MSNBC's primetime programming brought in bigger ratings than last month, which tipped the ratings war scale between the network and CNN back in its favor. MSNBC attributes its ratings climb to the reshuffling of Lawrence O'Donnell's "The Last Word," with Ed Shultz's "The Ed Show."

CNN however, experienced ratings growth of its own across the board. Compared to November 2010, CNN grew 4% in Total Day viewing. Anderson Cooper's "AC 360" 8:00 p.m. airing also improved over 40% in total viewing, compared to this month last year. (Piers Morgan, unfortunately, saw his ratings slide a bit below the numbers Larry King was posting on his farewell tour in 2010, though he has managed to top King's ratings overall this year.) CNN also beat MSNBC in the daytime.

How did individual shows fare? Below, see the top 30 cable news programs of November.

Of course the right still pushes the lie that Fox is not part of the "mainstream media." News flash: Fox is the MOST mainstream of news media. One cannot be number one with the most viewers (albeit most misinformed viewers) in the ratings and not be mainstream. It is a logical impossibility.

"FOX's Ratings Tumble!" says the headline on the Politics home page... Um... they are the top 13 shows. Even if they tumble, no other network scooted up to take a higher slot.

Silly headlines. HufPo needs new writers to be considered a legitimate news source.

The FOX show ratings fell down from where they were at the last survey. That is what 'tumbled' as in 'tumbled down' means. So the headline is correct, if a bit exaggerated. Normal for the print news media and press for hundreds of years. Here is a much worse example, with no truth at all, but the ugly lie nested is in a dishonest 'questioning' of the truth.

Come on!!! This is why HuffPost will remain a LEFT WING biased agency...just say it like it is...FOX IS NUMBER ONE...HUFFPOST DOES NOT AGREE WITH WHAT FOX SAYS, BUT IT IS NUMBER ONE!! If you stop making up stories and report the truth, your base may grow. Probably not.

Quite a 'tumble'.
All the way down to first place (again).
Can I be a headline writer?
12:57 PM on 12/05/2011
You have to go all the way to #14 to find a Non Fox site. I am sure HufPo is excited that Maddow is close to 1M views but her real competition is still twice the numbers. And O'Reilly is a better writer.
11:03 AM on 12/05/2011
The population of the US is 335 million people. Bill O'Reilly gets 3 million viewers. That is less than 1% of the population. Also it is wrong to call that clown's show "NEWS' .
02:39 PM on 12/05/2011
Your point is.......?
The article compares Fox with MSNBC and the others.
And, O'Reilly calls his show 'opinion' as does Maddow and Olbermann.
02:52 PM on 12/05/2011
And it's wrong to say Maddow is news. "Maddow Attacks!" "Maddow Rips!" "Maddow Shreds!"

If those are her redeeming headlines on HuffPo, it doesn't seem like she's being very unbiased as a journalist, thus not a qualified "news" source.

It's laughable when Huffington Post writes that Fox News is tumbling. It's more wishful thinking. Even their repeats win over the others. I guess you think by saying it, it'll happen. Not so. Makes HP seems very petty and small. Obviously you think your readers are stupid.

I don't think they think the readers are stew pit, but definitely makes the viewers of that comedy channel phox "news" stew pit...

especially since there is nothing remotely like news on that channel.
07:54 PM on 12/05/2011
And THAT is precisely why the phox phollowers watch.

They can watch walking dead if they like horror.

What's that about being "stew pit"? Grammar is key to showing your intelligence in a written forum.

I'm so glad I don't watch what most amerimorons watch. It lets me know I'm doing the right thing. I'll take brains and low ratings any day.

Note: this is ONLY those people who actually watch TV news and were polled. Not the US population at large who do generally not waste their time with the Action McNews entertainment as misinformation departments of the Big Six media combines.
