Colbert's Divine Judgment (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/30/11 04:03 PM ET Updated: 11/30/11 04:03 PM ET

He's the most famous Catholic on TV. He's got a direct line to God. His name is Stephen Colbert.

The self-described "pope of basic cable" offered his infallible opinion of recent religious news Tuesday night, declaring "Yahweh or No Way" on topics ranging from the new Catholic Mass and Pope Benedict's vehicular troubles to Wodka's offensive "holiday" billboard.

Best of all, Colbert gives a brief journalistic nod to HuffPost Religion at about 4:30 in the video.

So what do you think: Is the new Catholic Mass a good thing? Should the pope have to follow traffic laws like everyone else? Is the vodka ad anti-Semitic?

Yahweh or no way -- you decide.

Quick Poll

Which Catholic Mass (Roman Missal) language do you prefer?

The new Mass

The former Mass

Both are equally meaningful to me

I'm always amused by non-believers who try to keep up with Stephen's knowledge as he discusses the inner workings of the church. Most of the time they look like children with their noses pressed up against the glass.

HP left off the "Both are equally meaningless to me" option on the poll.

Or just a simple "Ha Ha Ha" would have sufficed

Over 500 priests die of prostrate cancer every year....what's your point?

Every minute 20 children under the age of 5 die from cancer. I'm pretty sure they didn't have much time to mock your god.

Stop with the superstitious threats of an invisible man in the sky please.

Why does HP support this mockery of religion? It only hurts those that are devout. (I'm not Catholic.)

That's not so apparent from his actions and behaviors.

Religion is faith despite lack of evidence. It has gotten humanity into no end of stupid troubles.

Religion deserves mockery. Clergymen deserve conviction for any number of frauds.

If you're devout, Mother Nature intends you to be parasitized by your faith. If I was a sociopath, I would most certainly be a snake-charming Baptist.

I've often wondered if Stephen Colbert's catholicism is part of his satire - he seems much more sane and atheistic to me.

He's a devout Catholic. He's simply not a dogmatist.

What do you think "devout" means?

A logical person can easily separate them. If you believe in one sort of magic, why not another?
