After finishing as the runner-up of season 4 of the reality competition show "Top Chef," Chef Richard Blais came back with knives blazing to win "Top Chef All Stars." (We knew he would win from the beginning!) This mad-scientist-in-the-kitchen is always making unique foods, oftentimes with the help of specialized equipment. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, his interest in experimental cooking took him to the kitchens of Thomas Keller in California and Ferran Adria in Spain. He now runs Trail Blais, his own creative culinary company, and operates two restaurants, Flip Burger Boutique and HD1, both in Atlanta, where he resides with his family.
Here's a list of Chef Blais' favorite things he'd want for the holiday. As Richard puts it: "Here is a list of stuff I want, or that I have that you should have too. Some of the stuff is expensive. Maybe a small motorcycle or super powered emulsifier is a decision you're faced with. Sometimes, I am. But most of the tools and gadgets listed here are reasonably priced and essential for cooking well every day."
