Bank Courier Van Loses Bags Of Cash On Pa. Highway (VIDEO)

UPPER ST. CLAIR, Pa. -- A bank courier van has spilled more than $100,000 in cash along a Pennsylvania highway, and motorists have stopped to grab it.

Police say much of the money was blown around by the wind. Lt. James Englert says "well into six figures" in cash is missing after the money grab in Upper St. Clair, just southwest of Pittsburgh.

Police are investigating why the door of the Fidelity Courier Service van opened. But they say the fact the door opened doesn't mean the money was free. They say taking it is theft.

Anyone who took money has a two-week grace period to return it without fear of prosecution.

The courier company is offering a reward for the return of the money.

WOW---look at THAT thing !! I want my life savings transported in THAT !! They can cart my cash around and sell taco's at the same time !! Yeah--MY money is in a van--thats in a garage--because it was recalled 30,000 times------I'll never see it again--but I know it's safe!! Pretty soon they'll be riding bi-polar mules with broken Tom-Tom's-------

They are nuts if they think everyone who picked up the money will return it. The money is insured and as long as the money was not straight from the federal reserve (meaning freshly printed, serial numbers in order) they can't track the money. Once it has been in "circulation" it is impossible to track. I worked in a bank branch and know that for fact.

Bennie, the security guard, rolling down the turnpike, rockin' out to a Van Halen tune on the radio, while his long hair flails from under his security guard cap....he hits a pothole and utters "Whoa Dude!. Finally he looks into the rearview mirror and notices that the back doors of the van have flung open. He pulls over to check it out, and while walking to the back of the truck he's passed by motorists honking their horns and holding up bags, waving and giving him the thumbs up

It happens in the movies, and apparently also in real life..
