Jane Schmidt: Iowa Teen Challenges Bachmann On Gay Rights

Teen Challenges Michelle Bachmann On Gay Marriage

As reported on HuffPost Politics, high school student Jane Schmidt attended Michelle Bachmann's town hall in Iowa on Wednesday and challenged the politician's position on same-sex marriage. The above video spread like wildfire across the internet and Jane's question has now gained attention from many mainstream news sites.

Jane also asked: "What would you do to protect GSAs in high school and support the LGBT community?" Watch the video above to see the answer.

Michelle Bachmann is a candidate for the Republican nomination in the 2012 U.S. Presidential election. She is also the first Republican woman to represent Minnesota in Congress and a supporter of the Tea Party movement. Michelle opposes abortion and gay marriage. In previous speeches, she has referred to homosexuality as a disorder.

Regardless of how you feel about Michelle Bachmann, we think it was super brave of Jane to speak up about the issues she believes in. What do you think?
