To reward his friends and allies in Texas, Perry signed a bill allowing State of Texas Admistrative officals and Department heads the right to retire, collect their pensions and continue at their current job for five years while continuing to draw their regular salaries. At the same time, the State of Texas laid off thousands of teachers and increased class room sizes by 30 Percent. While at his prayer meeting in Houston a month or so ago, when asked about the large number of spanish speaking students one of these State employees responsible for new text books was quoted as saying" Jesus spoke english, the Bible is in english, these spanish speaking students can learn to speak english". You could have a pin drop.

This entire road to the election has been very bizarre... and there is currently no candidate I'm too impressed with - including Mitt Romney.

The GOP strategy for the 2012 election appears to center around finding the least offensive candidate that can somehow garner enough of the Low Information Voter demographic and then depend on those wonderful people at Diebold and Citizens United to take care of the dirty tricks. (And you KNOW the dirty tricks are coming. The regressives aren't good at governing or policy, but soundbites, misinformation, and other nefarious election manipulations are where they excel. There's something in the conservative mindset that apparently lends itself to chicanery.)
