Chicago Area Cats And Dogs Up For Adoption (12/2) (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 12/02/11 06:02 PM ET Updated: 12/02/11 07:08 PM ET

This week, HuffPost Chicago has turned the spotlight on yet another bunch of very wonderful, very adoptable cats and dogs in need of forever homes.

Each week, in collaboration with several Chicago-area animal shelters, we are featuring a group of cats and dogs ready for adoption.

For those of you looking for another way to help these pets and other critters like them, Famous Fido will be hosting a holiday fundraising dinner and dance next Friday, Dec. 9 at the Grossinger City Autoplex, 1530 N. Dayton in Chicago. For $30 (or $50 for a pair), you can treat yourself to a dinner buffet, wine, beer and drinks, a holiday bazaar, dancing and more. Purchase tickets online or call (773) 907-0305 for more information.

Photos appear courtesy of the Naperville Area Humane Society, Felines Inc. and Famous Fido Rescue and Adoption Alliance. To our knowledge, all animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped and up-to-date with their tests and vaccinations.

If you have an adoption shelter success story you would like to share, be sure to send a note (and a picture) to and we will be sure to feature your tale.

Toby is a 6-year-old male retriever mix. He loves to snuggle on the couch but also likes a long game of fetch. He's a sweet, energetic guy who would love a home where his family has time to train him and give him lots of love. Visit Toby at the Naperville Area Humane Society at 1620 W. Diehl Road in Naperville. Click here or call (630) 420-8989 for more information.
